Help us make their childhood truly exceptional.

Exceptional Care for Children is Delaware's first and only non-profit pediatric skilled nursing facility. Listed amongst the top 100 nursing homes in the country, we provide transitional, long-term, and end of life care to children who are very medically fragile in a home-like environment outside of an acute care hospital. The goal is to create an environment where these children can put their medical challenges aside and experience life as a kid. Since opening our doors in 2006, ECC has continued to change the lives of so many wonderful children and their families. Located on a beautiful 7.7 acre campus with a pond and walking trail, we now have 31 individual hand painted bedrooms, an adaptive playground, speech, physical, and occupational therapy, play therapy and educational services, a field trip committee dedicated to providing the children with experiences outside of the facility, and amazing staff and volunteers who continue to create smiles and memories. A massive THANK YOU to our local Girl Scouts for their incredible generosity! They recently stopped by to donate 13 cases of cookies for our staff to enjoy.

Between the Thin Mints and the Tagalongs, our breakroom is the place to be. We are so grateful for the support of these amazing young leaders and the sweetness they’ve shared with our team.

Recently, one of our residents received the full red carpet treatment during a special shopping spree. Big smiles, a haul of fun finds, and enough star power to light up the whole store.

Huge shoutout to the Target staff for creating a personalized welcome and making this day so unforgettable. It’s local partnerships like these that turn a simple outing into a life-enriching event.
