Friends 4 Friends

Friends 4 Friends Be a Friend 4 a Friend- supportive friends can play an important role in Mental Health Recovery. "You got a friend in me."

We want to normalize discussions about how we feel, it’s okay to not be okay! In September 2016, Connor Mullen, a friend and a UD student, took his own life on campus. Since then, Connor's friends started a new Registered Student Organization (official club), Friends 4 Friends at UD, which will focus on changing the mental health stigma on campus. With the help of Connor's mother, Lori Mullen, we are holding our first annual Mental Health Awareness/ Suicide Prevention walk on April 15th, 2018. The mission of Friends 4 Friends is to create a campus where everyone has a friend to turn to for support. Friends 4 Friends advocates for mental health awareness by raising funds to improve the accessibility, quantity, and quality of mental health resources on the campus of UD. All funds raised will be allocated back into research and the University of Delaware in order to improve the counseling center (by reviewing current policies, developing interfaces for online appointment booking, etc.), create new coping alternatives (yoga, meditation, outdoor study lounge, etc.), and develop scholarship funds. We want to not only encourage students to "get help," but we want to show them how they can get help at UD.

Friendship is KEY

In September of 2016, a beloved friend & University of Delaware student, Connor Mullen, took his own life on campus. Connor's friends were called to action and started Friends 4 Friends at UD, which focuses on creating a campus where everyone struggling with mental illness has a friend to turn to for support.

Be a Friend 4 a Friend- supportive friends can play an important role in Mental Health Recovery. We want to normalize discussions about how we feel, it’s okay to not be okay! F4F is about bystander intervention; YOU have the power to help a friend or even a stranger, by showing genuine concern and spreading kindness.

Our first annual "Friends 4 Friends Fest" is on April 15th from 1pm-4pm on the green, we want to not only encourage students to “get help” but we want to show them how they can get help at UD. All funds will be donated back to UD's wellness program to help students in need! We are raising funds to improve the accessibility, quality and quantity of Mental Health resources at UD.
