Big News for Northern New Castle County Schools

Last night, the Redding Consortium voted to recommend consolidating Red Clay, Christina, Brandywine, and Colonial School Districts into one Northern New Castle County School District.

Here’s what you need to know:
✅ This vote is only a recommendation—an early step in a long process.
✅ Next, an implementation plan will be developed to outline how the four districts could come together. This work starts now.

✅ The implementation will to take several years, so don’t worry, your children will not be required to change schools next year.
✅ The Delaware GACEC is partnering with the Consortium to ensure the disability community’s voice is included.

Before anything becomes official, the proposal must be approved by:

The State Board of Education
The Delaware General Assembly
The Governor

There will be multiple opportunities for public comment, and we’ll keep you informed every step of the way.
