Before traveling abroad, check out health and safety risks at your destination. Animal illnesses and drinking water might be very different from what you’re used to and could make you sick. Get needed vaccinations at least 4 to 6 weeks before you leave to ensure you’re protected by the time you travel.

The only way to reduce the risk of s*xually transmitted infections is to abstain from s*x (not have s*x). If you’re s*xually active, you can:
● Use a latex condom whenever you have any kind of s*x. If you or your partner has a va**na, use a dental dam for oral s*x.
● Choose s*x partners carefully. Don’t have s*x if you suspect your partner has an STI.
● Get checked for STIs regularly. Doing so helps prevent the spread of STIs to other people. Ask any new s*x partner to get tested before having s*x for the first time.
● Avoid alcohol or drugs before having s*x. People who are under the influence may engage in s*xual activities without taking safety precautions.
● Learn the signs and symptoms of STIs. If you notice symptoms, visit a healthcare provider quickly.
● Educate yourself about STIs. The more you know, the better you can protect yourself and your partners.

● Have difficulty concentrating
● Feel worried and fearful
● Feel “wound up”— with sweaty palms, pounding heart, and tense muscles
● Feel irritable toward others
● Feel tired

Different vaccines work in different ways, but every vaccine helps the body’s immune system learn how to fight germs. It typically takes a few weeks for protection to develop after vaccination, but that protection can last a lifetime. A few vaccines, such as those for tetanus or seasonal flu, require occasional booster doses to maintain the body’s defenses.

National Health Center Week is a time to recognize and celebrate the commitment of community health centers to improving health outcomes, reducing health disparities, and supporting public health. These centers serve as a lifeline for millions, offering comprehensive services regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.

Breastfed infants are at lower risk of certain infections, sudden unexplained infant death, and a range of chronic diseases, including obesity, type 1 and 2 diabetes, asthma, and childhood leukemia. Breastfeeding is associated with a significant reduction in the odds of post-perinatal (between 7-364 days) infant death.
