I’m beyond thrilled to celebrate and congratulate my dear friend and close ally, on her nomination for Surgeon General of the United States.

This moment is not only historic, it’s deeply personal. Casey is one of the most courageous, nurturing, and pure-hearted humans I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing.

She has poured her brilliance, compassion, and relentless dedication into the fight for a healthier, freer future for all of us.

Just 5 years ago, after reading my book on the broken food system, Food Fix, Casey made the bold decision to walk away from a prestigious surgical career and devote herself fully to the root-cause mission, to unearth and heal the true drivers of chronic disease and help reclaim health freedom for our nation.

Her conviction wasn’t abstract; it was total. And just 6 months ago, she showed up for me, literally, on Christmas Day in the hospital, when I was facing one of the darkest, most vulnerable moments of my life. She brought presence, love, and strength when I needed it most.

That’s who Casey is: someone who shows up, who listens deeply, who leads with her heart as fiercely as with her mind. Her nomination signals a new chapter, not just for public health, but for the soul of healthcare in America.

Casey embodies the kind of leadership we need: science-forward, root-cause focused, people-centered, and uncompromisingly ethical. There is no better person to carry this responsibility. And I can’t wait to see what she does next.

Congratulations, Casey. You are the future we’ve been waiting for.

🚫 MYTH: You have to push through the fatigue. Hustle harder. Grind it out.

✅ TRUTH: Sometimes the most productive thing you can do… is step away.

If you’ve been feeling tired, foggy, or just “off,” it might not mean you're doing something wrong. It might just mean your body is asking for a reset.

👉 Not a full-on vacation.
👉 Not a spa day.
👉 Just a few intentional moments to pause and unplug.

💡 Try this today: Turn your phone on Do Not Disturb and go for a 10-minute walk.

Or, close your laptop and stretch for 2 songs.
Or yet, breathe. Just for 60 seconds.

Your energy doesn’t always need a major fix….

Sometimes it just needs a moment of space to return.

📌 If you needed this reminder today, save this post and follow me for more tips to help you [what you coach – ex. “build steady, sustainable energy without relying on caffeine or crash diets.”]

Your brain is wired for reward.
The problem isn’t the reward though, it’s the source.

Ultra-processed foods, social media, and hyper-stimulation hijack your brain’s natural pathways. They flood your system with dopamine, override satiety signals, and leave you constantly chasing the next fix—while feeling worse over time.

Overexposure to these artificial rewards trains your brain to seek pleasure in all the wrong places—leading to blood sugar crashes, mood swings, cravings, and chronic inflammation.

But here’s the good news:
You can rewire your brain.

Every time you choose real food over processed junk...
Every time you move your body instead of numbing out...
Every time you connect with someone instead of scrolling...
You reinforce a new pattern.
You teach your brain to find reward in things that actually restore you.

When you fuel your biology with what it truly needs; nutrients, movement, purpose, connection, you don’t just feel better…
You become better. More resilient. More grounded. More in control.

This is how you reclaim your health: one decision at a time.

Not through extremes, but by choosing real inputs that nourish your brain and body.

Chewing gum may be one of the most overlooked sources of microplastic exposure.

In a new pilot study presented at the American Chemical Society, researchers found that chewing a single piece of gum released up to 3,000 microplastics into saliva. Most were shed within the first 8 minutes.

Even gums labeled “natural” released similar amounts of plastic particles as synthetic ones—including polyolefins, PET, polystyrenes, and polyacrylamides. These are the same polymers used in packaging, industrial materials, and water bottles.

Microplastics like these have been found in the brain, placenta, bloodstream, and arteries, where they may drive inflammation, disrupt endocrine signaling, and impair cellular health.

The gum industry doesn’t disclose what’s in the “gum base.” And without regulation, we’re chewing on polymers no one asked for—and no one’s fully studied.

Your mouth wasn’t designed to process plastic.

Chloride levels are increasing in our rivers, streams, and groundwater. It only takes one teaspoon of salt to contaminate five gallons of water!

Chloride can be toxic to aquatic life, harmful to pets if ingested, and very expensive to remove from our waterways. It corrodes roads and bridges and can damage vehicles, eroding protective layers of paint, causing rust, and damaging the undercarriage.

Be salt smart and do your part to reduce the impact of salt on our waterways by following these tips:

❄️SHOVEL: Clear snow from sidewalks and driveways before it turns to ice to minimize the need for salt.
❄️SCATTER: Apply salt in appropriate amounts so that there is space between the grains. A 12 oz mug of salt is enough to treat a 20 ft driveway.
❄️SWEEP: Sweep up excess salt to reuse it and prevent it from being washed away.
