Hi my friend,
It's our final Prayer Circle Wednesday of the year!
Prayer leads to wonderful things, especially when we unite in our prayers.
Let's make it an amazing prayer circle today, so that we can heal, thrive and create new blessings for all of us to step into and receive.
My prayer for today is:
May anyone who is struggling receive a big and positive shift in their lives soon! And so it is.
Do you have a prayer request that you'd like for my prayer team, our community and I to send your way? It will be an honor for us to send healing prayers your way.
Love,
Emmanuel
Always...
This is an uplifting meme by Anita Moorjani.
Try inserting any "dis-ease" for the word "cancer''...
I turned the word "remission" into "remember my mission". Tell yourself: "I'm done with cancer, and now it's time for me to remember my mission!" šš»ā¤ļø

A significant percentage of cancer patients who do not have breast-cancer related lymphedema, are not receiving treatment, which leads to a notable treatment gap. While 94 percent of breast cancer patients get help for lymphedema, only 75 percent of prostate cancer patients with lymphedema are under treatment

Feeling down in the dumps? Overwhelmed? Welcome to Covid holidays...
To be honest I'm feeling like a bit of a failure because I don't feel festive. My wife is all about the holidays and I feel guilty that I'm struggling to get into the spirit this year. I know she understands, but aren't we always hardest on ourselves? This is a message from me - to me - and to anyone else who needs to hear it.
Kindness dwells...
There is a kindness that dwells deep down in things; it presides everywhere, often in the places we least expect. The world can be harsh and negative, but if we remain generous and patient, kindness inevitably reveals itself. Something deep in the human soul seems to depend on the presence of kindness; something instinctive in us expects it, and once we sense it we are able to trust and open ourselves.

A reminder for these darkest days of the year. Keep reflecting, keep recalibrating, keep coming back and circling around. Our paths are not linear, exploration is part of the cycle. Be gentle with yourself and remind yourself of this often
Hurray for the Lymphedema Treatment Act!
The Lymphedema Treatment Act (S.518/H.R.1948) will improve insurance coverage for doctor prescribed, medically necessary supplies. With 386 House and 71 Senate cosponsors, this is the most supported healthcare bill before Congress.

I know this to be very true!
Getting exercise is important and important for your lymphatic system, whether you have lymphedema or not! Lymphatic flow rates increase 5 fold in the 1st fifteen minutes. That is a serious amount of increase and is an important factor in getting lymphatic fluid moving!
Research indicates that the transport of lymph fluid and proteins from swollen areas increases during and after exercises. Studies show that lymph flow increased five-fold in the first 15 minutes and two to three fold during the remaining time of a two hour exercise protocol.

Grief Reiki
As a society we tend to intellectualize grief which means we may say something that makes sense but doesnāt help heal a griever's broken heart. So that we donāt hurt a griever any more than they are already hurting, itās important to know what we can say to them that is helpful.

Lipedema is very frequently mis-diagnosed. The majority of patients are women, who feel they are are not heard or understood. Lipedema is painful, too.
Please share this article with anyone who may be affected by Lipedema.
āLipedema patients feel totally abandoned, and rightfully so,ā said Stanley Rockson, MD, professor of cardiovascular medicine and the Allan and Tia Neill Professor of Lymphatic Research and Medicine at the Stanford School of Medicine.
āThey have a disease that turns life upside-down and are told there is nothing wrong with them. To dignify it with proper identification is very important to people.ā

Skin and nail care are vital components in the management of Lymphedema.
Skin and nail care play an essential role in both prevention of lymphedema in those patients at risk of developing this condition, and in the management of existing lymphedema. The skin is the first line of defense against foreign invaders and is usually impermeable to bacteria and other pathogens. However, any defect in the skin such as burns, chafing, dryness, cuticle injury, cracks, cuts, splinters, insect bites and tattoo needles can present an entry site for pathogens or infectious agents and cause infection.

Maybe you can relate...
Pardon the F bombs, too.
Been here. Done this. Well, not the 3x washing thing, but dragging myself around by my heels...
A friend shared this and I really liked the lesson! *original poster (Kate Scott 2020)*:
RUN THE DISHWASHER TWICE.
When I was at one of my lowest (mental) points in life, I couldnāt get out of bed some days. I had no energy or motivation and was barely getting by.
I had therapy once per week, and on this particular week I didnāt have much to ābringā to the session. He asked how my week was and I really had nothing to say.
āWhat are you struggling with?ā he asked.
I gestured around me and said āI dunno man. Life.ā
Not satisfied with my answer, he said āNo, what exactly are you worried about right now? What feels overwhelming? When you go home after this session, what issue will be staring at you?ā
I knew the answer, but it was so ridiculous that I didnāt want to say it.
I wanted to have something more substantial.
Something more profound.
But I didnāt.
So I told him, āHonestly? The dishes. Itās stupid, I know, but the more I look at them the more I CANāT do them because Iāll have to scrub them before I put them in the dishwasher, because the dishwasher sucks, and I just canāt stand and scrub the dishes.ā
I felt like an idiot even saying it.
What kind of grown ass woman is undone by a stack of dishes? There are people out there with *actual* problems, and Iām whining to my therapist about dishes?
But my therapist nodded in understanding and then said:
āRUN THE DISHWASHER TWICE.ā
I began to tell him that youāre not supposed to, but he stopped me.
āWhy the hell arenāt you supposed to? If you donāt want to scrub the dishes and your dishwasher sucks, run it twice. Run it three times, who cares?! Rules do not exist, so stop giving yourself rules.ā
It blew my mind in a way that I donāt think I can properly express.
That day, I went home and tossed my smelly dishes haphazardly into the dishwasher and ran it three times.
I felt like I had conquered a dragon.
The next day, I took a shower lying down.
A few days later. I folded my laundry and put them wherever the f**k they fit.
There were no longer arbitrary rules I had to follow, and it gave me the freedom to make accomplishments again.
Now that Iām in a healthier place, I rinse off my dishes and put them in the dishwasher properly. I shower standing up. I sort my laundry.
But at a time when living was a struggle instead of a blessing, I learned an incredibly important lesson:
THERE ARE NO RULES.
RUN THE DISHWASHER TWICE!!!
Recent studies indicate Lipedema is a lymphatic disease.

Just a reminder for your Tuesday!
Mid-November greetings!
I hope you enjoyed the nearly 10 days of unseasonably warm and sunny weather! What a treat for a usually cold and less-than-colorful November.
Covid numbers continue to rise at rapid rates. My office/practice will remain open on a limited basis through December 30 unless Gov. Mills declares otherwise. Regardless of the numbers or status of Covid in Maine, I will put the office/practice on āPauseā beginning December 31 for a minimum of 3 weeks. If I find I need to āPauseā earlier than that date, I will let you know. Thank-you for your understanding.
I am instituting the following changes effective immediately:
1. Please wear a medical mask. Cloth masks are no longer acceptable to wear during your session. If you need a medical mask, I have one for you to wear.
2. All sessions are now 45 minutes in length to reduce contact/exposure time. The fee for the 45 minute session is $60.00. I will contact you the day before your session either via text, email or phone to update your medical history. I will not rush you at the end of the session, but please be mindful of keeping the session in a 45 minute window. This is for your safety as well as mine.
If you have any questions, please let me know. I know that change is afoot once again. Thank-you for your willingness and understanding.
I am committed to providing you with safe and effective healing and bodywork.
I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Happy Monday Strong Woman!
