While our daily lives are filled with both challenge and change, when we meet these moments with mindfulness, we can respond in a wise and skillful way.

This daylong retreat will focus on ways to cultivate your natural potential for resilience through mindfulness and meditation. Together we will explore ways to mentally, physically, and emotionally resource, use the practice of RAIN to work with difficult thoughts and emotions, tune in to the wisdom of the body, and develop the heart quality of equanimity. Throughout the day we will alternate between talks, discussion, guided meditation practice, and guided mindful movement.

I am very excited to be offering this daylong retreat as the final practicum for my 2-year mindfulness meditation teacher training program! I hope to see you there!

☀️ Impermanence is a reality I need to be reminded of often ☀️

I watch nature change, grow, thrive, and die, and forget that I too am a part of nature. Even the bright burning sun, the very center of our universe, one day will not rise.

I used to fear death so much I couldn’t even think about it without worry and panic. Now I understand the beauty is not to live in fear of this, but rather to embrace the vibrancy which a finite life gives.

All things live, change, and die in some way. I cannot control that. However, I can choose how I want to meet each moment in between.

I read this quote in The Beginner's Guide to Walking the Buddha's Eightfold Path, although I believe it's also been said by

Jean Smith explains "Happiness is being content with what we have, or at least accepting the reality of what we've been dealt. If we make happiness dependent upon getting what we want (which means something we do not have), that will bring us at best a happiness that cannot last, because even when we get what we want, we cannot keep it."

In each and every present moment I can find happiness simply because I am alive, yet that's often easy to forget. I am actively working to untangle myself from hustle culture, and release thoughts of living in scarcity that come up daily - scarcity of time, of money, of achievements, of possessions, and of connections.

I don't need to do more, or have more, to be happy. If I remember, I can choose happiness, or at least acceptance, in each new moment that I'm mindful of.

✨ welcome ✨

I was first introduced to this practice of intentional welcoming by , and it felt very powerful. What I have included below is a condensed and modified version of what she so skillfully offered.

✨✨✨
In this online community, I would like to create a space that welcomes every single part of our shared and also deeply individual humanity.

I welcome people from all places around the world, and all the diverse races, ethnic groups, and languages that exist within these spaces. I welcome people of all genders, including those who identify as trans, genderq***r, non-binary, women, men, and everyone whom those labels do not apply. I welcome all sexual orientations including le***an, gay, bisexual, pansexual, heterosexual, q***r, or others for whom, again, these labels don’t fit. I welcome physical bodies of all sizes, shapes, abilities and challenges, whether they are visible or invisible. I welcome people who are neurodivergent, neurotypical, or those whom these labels don’t fit. I welcome people of all ages. I welcome people from all economic backgrounds and current financial situations. I welcome people of all levels of experience and curiosity. I welcome those of all political party affiliations. I welcome those of all faith traditions and beliefs.

I also want to welcome all of your thoughts and emotions, pleasant and unpleasant, including but absolutely not limited to joy, anxiety, fear, excitement, sadness, gratitude, and confusion.

What parts of your human experience do you want welcomed and recognized? ⬇️⬇️⬇️
