There are still misconceptions about darker skin. For example, some believe that "Darker skin tones don’t need to worry about wearing sunscreen. Darker skin tones don’t struggle with hyperpigmentation. Darker skin tones don’t have pore issues” etc.
However, the structure of the skin is the same for everyone, meaning their skin is also affected by UV rays. Additionally, pore size and pigmentation are not determined by race, but by individual differences and how we take care of our skin.

Just because you have darker skin doesn't make you exempt from sun protection and skin care. In fact, darker skin contains more melanin, which makes it more susceptible to UV rays. Excessive UV exposure increases the risk of hyperpigmentation, meaning people with darker skin tones need to be especially mindful of sun protection and skin care.
