It’s Monday. And if I’m being honest…this is what’s been on my heart.

I watch it all the time.

Someone sitting in a doctor’s office…
Trying to remember what medication they’re on.

Here’s something many people don’t realize:

About 1 in 24 people will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer in their lifetime.

The good news?

Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when screening is done regularly.

Screening allows doctors to detect and remove precancerous polyps before cancer ever develops.

Most adults should begin screening at age 45, even if they feel completely healthy.

Myth:
Colon cancer only affects older adults.

Truth:
Rates of colorectal cancer have actually been increasing in adults under age 50 over the past several years.

Because of this, screening guidelines were updated and now recommend starting screening at age 45 for most adults.

The goal of screening is not just to detect cancer, it’s to prevent it by finding and removing precancerous polyps early.
