That weight creeping on no matter what you do? It’s not your fault.

Here’s what nobody tells you: perimenopause changes everything about how your body processes food, stores fat, and responds to stress.

Here’s what nobody tells you as a woman: your body handles sugar differently depending on where you are in your cycle.

If your doctor only ran a CBC, metabolic panel, and maybe TSH ... they missed A LOT.

I spent years wondering why I was gaining weight, exhausted, and inflamed when my labs looked “fine.” Turns out, the tests that actually mattered weren’t even on the order.

Here’s what I wish I had asked for sooner:

• Fasting insulin (not glucose. Insulin!). The fat storage hormone that shows problems years before your blood sugar does.
• Leptin: controls hunger and metabolism. If it’s off, your body fights you on everything.
• Omega-3 index: low levels = your body can’t burn fat efficiently no matter how hard you try.
• Calprotectin: gut inflammation that silently wrecks your hormones, energy, and weight. (This can be done via comprehensive stool test)
• Short-chain fatty acids: basically a report card for your gut bacteria. (This can be done via comprehensive stool test)

*there’s so many more I’m going to eventually talk about, these were the ones that were out of range for me.

None of these were on my standard panel. I had to run them myself.
