We’re excited to welcome Ashley Boerrigter, MD, as a new assistant professor in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

A Crestwood, Kentucky, native and UK College of Medicine alumna, Dr. Boerrigter completed her residency at St. Louis University before returning to UK for fellowship. She’s passionate about managing complex pregnancies and values the collaborative spirit of maternal-fetal medicine, especially the partnerships with community providers and specialists.

Having trained at UK for both medical school and fellowship, joining the faculty felt like a natural next step. She looks forward to caring for patients, teaching future physicians, and continuing to call Lexington home.

Hayden Meza, CNM, has been named UK HealthCare’s 2025 Certified Nurse Midwife of the Year. She was recognized for her outstanding clinical care, dedication to patients, and leadership in advancing women’s health through the UK Midwife Clinic.

The award was presented during National Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Week, which honors the vital contributions of APPs across health care.

Faculty Spotlight!

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is proud to celebrate three faculty members selected for leadership development programs through the UK College of Medicine!

Dr. Rebecca McKendrick, assistant professor, has been named to the 2025–2026 Emerging Leaders Academy, a year-long program that fosters the growth of future academic leaders.

Dr. Charles Dietrich, associate professor, and Dr. Wendy Jackson, professor, were both accepted into the Leadership Academy, a program that prepares faculty for key leadership roles in academic medicine.

We are excited to see how Drs. McKendrick, Dietrich, and Jackson will continue to advance women’s health and strengthen our academic community through their leadership.

Dr. Brittany Hood is the newest member of our Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship team. She earned her medical degree from the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine and completed her residency at Baylor Scott and White Health.

Dr. Kassandra Whitfield is joining our Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship team. She completed both medical school and residency at West Virginia University.

We’re excited to welcome Haley Zahner, CNM, to the UK HealthCare - Georgetown Ob/Gyn team!

Haley earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Methodist College in Peoria, Illinois, and completed her Master of Science in Nursing and Certified Nurse Midwife training at Frontier Nursing University. Before becoming a CNM, Haley worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse, where her passion for women’s health began.

Why did you choose a career in women’s health?“ I pursued a career in women’s health after witnessing my first delivery—I instantly fell in love. That experience sparked a deep passion in me, and overtime, I’ve been fortunate to expand my role and care for women across the full span of their lives.”

In her free time, Haley enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
