One of the gifts of healing is learning to trust the natural rhythms of life again.
To trust that we can work and rest.
To trust that we can strive and still slow down.
To trust that our value does not disappear when we stop producing.
Many parts of us learned something different.
Parts of us learned to stay busy.
Parts of us learned to keep going.
Parts of us learned that rest should be earned.
And those parts make sense. They were doing their best with what they knew.
But healing isn't about fighting those parts.
It's about helping them discover that there is another way to live.
A way that includes effort and ease.
Purpose and presence.
Growth and restoration.
Nature already knows this.
The trees don't bloom year-round.
The rivers don't rush every second.
The earth is not in a constant state of becoming.
Yet nothing in nature apologizes for its seasons.
Perhaps we weren't meant to live outside those rhythms either.
Maybe rest is not something we have to justify.
Maybe it is something we were created to trust.
As summer unfolds, may we make room for moments that don't need to be productive.
A walk without a destination.
An afternoon on the porch.
A blanket in the grass.
The smell of fresh-cut flowers.
The warmth of the sun on our skin.
And when the parts of us start to worry that we should be doing more, may we meet them with compassion and gently remind them: It is summer. We are allowed to live a little.
