Justice for Xzavier!
Five years ago, his life was taken by the Virginia State Police, and not a day goes by that his absence isn’t felt.
There are moments I wish he were still here to see Kymani and Kyree growing, to laugh with them, to protect them, to be the big cousin I know he would have been. I wish my sister LaToya Benton didn’t have to carry this level of pain every single day. No mother should have to bury her child or fight for justice while grieving.
The justice system has shown us, time and time again, how unfair it can be—how lives like Xzavier’s are too often dismissed, minimized, or ignored. That truth still hurts. That anger still rises. But I stand on my faith. I believe that **God is a God of justice**, and **vengeance belongs to Him**. I may not see accountability the way I want to here on earth, but I trust God completely.
Xzavier’s life continues to fuel my purpose. Through **Auntie Advocate**, I keep showing up—for families, for children, for the forgotten, for the hurting. I-think back to that hot summer day when we stood at bus stops handing out **free popsicles**, just to make people smile, just to remind them they mattered. That was love in action. That was Xzavier’s spirit—giving, kind, present.
Today, I honor you, nephew.
Your life mattered.
Your name matters.
And your legacy lives on through every act of service, every fight for justice, and every ounce of faith I refuse to let go of.
