caught my attention the moment they launched their advanced lab testing program. Over the years, I’ve tried to access many of these diagnostics through medical providers (even offering to pay out of pocket) and was often denied.

With over 20 years dedicated to wellbeing, I’ve blended research, high-quality products, and a lifestyle focused on real, organic food, stress management, intentional relationships, and movement that evolves with each stage of life.

As a lifespan psychologist, I started studying longevity before it became mainstream, and I continue to treat my own health as a living experiment in what it means to truly live well. I’m thrilled with my results and feeling every bit as 16 years and 10 months younger than my chronological age!

With every client that I work with, maladaptive patterns show up in their self care (or neglecting self care), including nutritional needs, exercise, and quality sleep. 
 
A key area for waking up is understanding our relationship to eating and food. 
 
From the womb and throughout childhood we were dependent on others to feed us - they determined the quality of what we ate, how it was prepared, the emotional exchanges that occurred during feeding, when we were fed, how much, and often labeled us as ‘good’ or bad’ as a result. Some of us grew up with happy feelings around eating - and many of us did not.

The feeding experience in our formative years deeply influences how we nourish and resource ourselves as adults and how that is expressed in relationships and how we behave in different settings. 

You might be aware of this and find yourself obsessing over it, dieting, starving, compensating with over exercising, or picking yourself apart over your last meal - the overt ways that an unhealthy relationship with food is expressed. The covert ways these same patterns show up are also expressed in personal relationships and in the ways we approach work, school, and overall adult independence.

It’s possible to override these patterns and learn how to consciously nourish yourself and enjoy food and eating. The empowerment you experience from learning how to care well for yourself ripples over into your stance in relationships and how you engage with work.

The Adaptive Child or The Wise Adult?

→ People pleasing or Healthy boundaries
→ Bingeing/starving or Moderate consumption
→ Defensive or Open to feedback
→ Rigid thinking or Flexible problem solving
→ Over working or Work-life balance
→ Perfectionism or Acceptance
→ Judging good vs. bad or Seeing the gradients

Wake up! You don’t have to operate from this stance!

In response to difficult childhood experiences we develop sophisticated (at the time) adaptations to psychologically ‘survive.’

Adaptive then, maladaptive now.

If the stances on the left are dominating your life, you are stuck in the patterns of your adaptive child. Waking up is witnessing the pattern, realizing how it impacts different aspects of your life, identifying it across settings, and eventually moving beyond the knee jerk to a deliberate, thoughtful, mature, and learned way to be a Wise Adult. 

We can find peace with our adaptive child and learn what health feels like. I’m walking the path myself - and with you.

New Year’s Resolutions come from a good place - but they come from a desire of improvement.

You want life to turn out in a very particular way. And as it long as it hasn’t, you suffer.
 
The desire for improvement is usually born from a sense of deficiency. Your home is lacking, love life is lacking, friendships are lacking, job is lacking, income is lacking, health/appearance is lacking, ability to manage stress and create balance is lacking…

You get the picture! It feels like it is you who is deficient.
 
Improvement efforts are a noble attempt to address this painful sense of deficiency, but the energy of improving can wind up reinforcing the sense that you don’t have what it takes.
 
We yearn for a deeply balanced & fulfilling life, but many of us lack the skills to realize our dream. We’ve simply never been taught how.
