During the pandemic, I completed a Health and Human Performance Coaching Certificate. It was a fantastic program and I learned lots of great things. But what stuck out to me the most was how we view our patients/clients vs. the way we CAN view our patients/clients.

In the medical field, we tend to look at people through a lens of what is broken, unbalanced, stuck, or needs fixing. In coaching, however, the terms “creative, resourceful, and whole” are used to describe clients. Which one feels more empowering? On our worst days, at our lowest point, our mind, body, and spirit are still working for us, still rooting for us!

At Thrive, we believe that our patients are creative, resourceful, whole, capable, and empowered. Acupuncture is an amazing medicine because it is a medicine that works with your body’s own resources. It is a medicine that reminds us, we have the ability to heal already within us.

At Thrive we see you in your strength, not your weakness. We all need support, to be heard, to be allowed to fall apart, but then to also be reminded that we are creative, resourceful, and whole.

Why do I recommend a doula to all of my pregnant patients??
Here is why:
Your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period is a very unique time in your life (whether it's your 1st or 5th) and you deserve to be supported during all the transitions that occur. A doula acts as a sound mind, advocate, cheerleader, and educator. There are so many unexpected things that arise during this time that can be unknown, surprising, or even disappointing. Having a doula helps you to navigate all of this with grace and support.

If you are expecting I highly recommend hiring a doula, and I can't recommend Leslie Cuffee enough. She is experienced, knowledgeable, supportive, compassionate, and just a lovely human overall.
