At Graves Funeral Home, we have been honored to be the funeral service provider for families of fallen military service members and veterans for more than six decades. Today we stop and pause to thank them for their service to our country. They paid with their lives so that we can live ours.

You all know the Matriarch of the Graves family, Mildred Graves, passed away on Jan. 13, 2022, five years to the day after her beloved husband, Tom, passed away. Our own Delegate Angelia Williams Graves shared her life with the members of the House of Delegates in the General Assembly. She admits "This speech was more difficult to make than I thought it would be (I got the 2nds, 3rds and 4ths of the Tommys all messed up). However, it was an honor to share her life, legacy and wisdom with the my colleagues." The history of the Commonwealth of VA will reflect that on Jan. 20, 2022, the House of Delegates adjourned in the honor and memory of Mildred Odom Graves. Here's the presentation...

And these two are together again. It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of the Matriarch of the Graves family, Mildred O. Graves; she was 102. It was in this same day, Jan. 13, 2017, that Tom Graves passed away. Service arrangements are pending and will be announced soon. Please keep the Graves Family and staff in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
