Fun nutrition question: do you eat the whole strawberry, or just the fruit? And why?

Just a reminder: healthy nutrition is NOT about dieting down attempting to reach the most optimal body fat percentage. Healthy nutrition is NOT excluding “bad” foods. Healthy nutrition is NOT about counting your macros.

Healthy nutrition IS about enjoying the behaviors and mindsets that support eating in a manner that honors your lifestyle, preferences, and goals.

It’s not too complicated. By eating enough fruits, vegetables, and proteins on a consistent basis… your amazing body will do the rest.

We encourage everyone to strive for eating at least 5 portions of fruits and vegetables each day. If that’s not happening for you regularly, that’s ok. Send us a message and let’s figure out how to work towards that.

No one’s claiming this is easy. But it is something to strive for.

Strive for it before the weekend starts (and you know there’s going to be plenty of playing hard).

Strive for it on Sundays when you know a big week is sharing you straight in the face.

Strive for it on a Wednesday, when it feels like the week will never end.

The reason we emphasize eating well is because healthy foods help you to think clearer, deal with stress, and give you stable energy. When you eat well, you CAN play harder, whether that’s at the gym or at happy hour.

Our goal for you this week is to aim for a little more balance. Eat a few extra servings of veggies, go for an extra walk or two, drink your water, and call a friend.

Big ass colorful salad to start the week off. Want a bite?

5 little things that helped make this BAS ready in only 2 minutes:
• rice pot (but you could sub 90 sec rice); pretty much set it and forget it
• air fryer to cook pork
• pre-seasoned pork tenderloin
• chopped bell peppers over the weekend
• lettuce straight out of the bag

And with a little bit of task-stacking (similar to habit stacking as mentioned in Atomic Habits), it only took us about an hour’s worth of food “prep” on Sunday to get ahead of schedule.

Planning and prioritizing are big things we talk about consistently, so we’re always striving to become a little more effective with our time and resource management.

No matter where you are today, happy Friday from beautiful Oklahoma! Here's what's on our colorful mind:⁠

Have you noticed we've been digging into (and geeking out over) the deeper ingredients of health like mental health and mindsets? If you missed it, we've had a series going about the all-or-nothing mentality. Check them out.⁠

But we've also been thinking a lot about emotional health, too. This is all about the feeling and emotions we use to cope with our daily stressors. Together with our close friends, we've been geeking out over "color theory" and been asking each other how "yellow" our days have been.⁠

Q) Have you ever purposely worn your favorite color to feel a little bit better?⁠

Color theory⁠ is both the science and the art behind specific colors, or color combinations. Oftentimes, each color is associated with certain expressions. Yellow, for example, often represents happiness or sunlight 🙂☀⁠

We’re big BIG fans of all the amazing members we’ve been able to work with the past 2.5 years. So when they have kind words to say, it really fills us up.

Because we’re on a mission to bring holistic and sustainable health changes to the strong humans of the community, kind words like these are humbling. And they let us know we’re on the right track.

grat·i·tude [ˈɡradəˌt(y)o͞od] noun - the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.⁠

Taylor here, feeling vulnerable and open today about some special people in my life at the moment. I've been so fortunate, so happy, and so grateful lately for these two friends. Alex and Kristin are badass women who've entered my life at a really great time. ⁠

They're also my colleagues. Collectively, we're all working our asses off and pursuing our own passions and truths. We work hard for ourselves, but we also work hard for our communities and the world. We're here to spread the good news about all things health and fitness.⁠

🙏🏼 In the past few weeks, we've spontaneously been messaging each other on a daily basis asking what the other is grateful for. (Kris and Alex don't know each other, btw). How special, right? Today, I'm extremely grateful for their love, friendship, and support.⁠

Taking a moment out of this beautiful Friday to write you a heartfelt message. I We wanted to relay a quick and healthy message before kicking off yet another beautiful Oklahoma weekend.

We don’t have to say yes to everything. We might *need* to say no to some things. Yes… FOMO is a real thing, and sometimes it sucks to miss out. But if it’s a Thursday night and we have a big day on Friday. Say no. There’s only so much of us.

For (maybe) the first time ever Taylor actually used the words “for my mental health” in conjunction to saying “no”. There was no excuse. There was no skirting around it hoping they wouldn’t be upset. Instead, Taylor actually used the words “mental health” as his reason. A few moments after - I feeling of liberation, pride, and self-worth like never before. Pretty cool, right?

Just here to remind you that it’s ok to stand up for yourself. It’s ok to say “no” to something you know isn’t really in your best interest at the time. There will always be another show another night, another brunch another day, another trip another weekend. It might feel a little weird to say these words out loud, but you’re worth it. Cause you rock (especially when you’re at your best).

🙂 If you need to do something for yourself, you don’t need permission. Take care of yourself so you can take care of your goals and responsibilities.

Another big time congratulations going out to Ladonna and Michelle from Team Flying Tacos. These two badass women are taking home a 3rd place finish from

Michelle loves her tacos, while Ladonna spends a ton of her time flyin around i helicopters for work. These two teamed up as accountability partners and they were incredible contributors to this year’s nutrition challenge. MN cannot thank and congratulate them enough.

is super busy with work and taking photos, yet she still found ways to make progress with her nutrition: “I have eaten more veggies, consistently, than I have ever before! I have learned to like, even enjoy, salads. I really enjoyed the challenge and the layering of habits.”

is no stranger to all of Koda’s programs and is always a huge help to Taylor. Michelle helped host the first Zoom Dinner Table and is always the first person to bridge the gap for new members and is quick to strike up a conversation.

I really appreciated our wrap-up meal at . Your collective feedback on this year’s challenge was really helpful. Thanks again you two!
