Nature's Pace

Nature's Pace Nature's Pace is for kids to explore wooded trails with the freedom to climb trees, build forts, smell wildflowers, and PLAY Welcome to the new Nature’s Pace!

Though no one could possibly fill Christine’s shoes, I’m so excited to see this program continue! A little about me: I grew up in Andover with woods in my backyard. My childhood best friend and I would spend hours exploring and making forts. I moved to North Andover in 2008. I have always had a passion for teaching and have been doing so for the past 19 years. Starting my career in Haverhill out

of college, I then transferred to Boxford where I teach 5th grade for the past 11 years. Before having my own kids, Logan & Dylan, I spent summers helping run a summer rec program in Groveland. Working with kids has always been on the forefront of my career. Thank you for following and I can’t wait to continue this fantastic program!

Beautiful day to be outside! ☀️Today this group got to experience something really cool. We ran into a wonderful man playing bagpipes. He took a moment to show the kids how they worked and played for us! 🎶 We climbed a lot of fallen trees, had lots of rocking throwing contests, and even say a crew team practicing! 🍃

First day of spring session for the older group. Loved seeing some new faces. “Natures Pace Keep Exploring” was a great message decorated on a rock to be left behind for others to find. We also found some frogs and build some cool forts🍃 🍂

First day of spring session! This group explored vernal ponds, made hiking sticks, looked up close at different textures, smelled some skunk cabbage, decorated rocks, found a large tree burl, and built forts or squirrel houses! Such an adventurous little group- not afraid to get their hands dirty and explore. 🍃🍂🪾

❄️☀️Last day of winter session! It was a beautiful sunny day- so in anticipation of spring we made some pinecone bird feeders. We also tried to make some boats to send down a stream ☀️❄️

Brrr 🥶 It was a cold one today! We attempted frozen bubbles but it ended up being windier than I thought. We had to try some different trails due to the snow but they were still able to climb and explore. Ended with some hot chocolate (or warm chocolate for some). Thanks for braving the cold!🥶

Trying out an activity for Monday’s session- frozen bubbles! 🫧❄️ (Little too windy today)

1 cup warm water (helps dissolve ingredients)
2.5–3 tbsp Dish Soap (Dawn is highly recommended)
2.5–3 tbsp Light Corn Syrup (Karo syrup works best)
2 tbsp Sugar (crucial for forming crystals)

❄️Snow painting, sledding, and snow cones❄️ I thought Half Mile Hill would have more snow- but we did end up using the trail to sled. Ended up being pretty much ice so we had many crashes into the woods so I tried to stand on the edge to maneuver them away - but If you go to slide 8 you’ll see what it’s like when two kids come at you full sped, go under your legs and flip you over! Never a dull moment 🤣
