Local Foot & Ankle Surgeon looking for an X-Ray Tech or Medical Assistant to take x-rays and assist in daily office routine.

Position duties:

· Follow the physician for patient care needs.

· Review the day schedule with other medical assistants to plan and assign general patient care tasks (physical therapy, new patient H&P, strapping, etc.) before patient session begins.

· Take new patient history and assists patient with completion of supporting documentation.

· Set up exam rooms, patient charts, and paperwork for scheduled patients.

· Review charts prior to escorting patients to rooms to ensure appropriate information is available for physician.

· Documentation of patient concerns or updated information in electronic medical record whether communicated in person or over the phone.

· Thoroughly clean and re-stock exam rooms with supplies daily.

· Provide patient education on care and diagnostic testing.

· Take x-rays based on physician direction and patient care protocol.

· Handle patient calls concerning prescription refills, medical/health concerns and general patient education under the direction of the physician.

· Alert physician to patient emergencies.

· Follow OSHA guidelines in performance of task assignments.

· Manages medical supplies and inventory to keep appropriate levels of supplies on hand.

· Restocks exam rooms and reception area with patient education material.

· Participate in practice marketing presentations as needed.

Below are the primary duties of this position.
Properly coding services, procedures, diagnoses, and treatments
Preparing and sending invoices or claims for payment
Correcting rejected claims
Tracking payments
Following up with patients and insurance companies about outstanding bills
Verifies referral information for managed care programs prior to all patient visits.
Make sure all information, test results, etc. is in the chart prior to the patient visit.
Sign in phones from the answering service.
Answer phone and make appointments using the computer system.
Transfer of calls to appropriate areas, take physician messages, document patient concerns in chart.
Schedule patients for surgery and other outside testing (MRI, Bone Scans, Nerve Conduction studies, etc.) as needed.
Ensures that worker’s compensation and personal injury patients complete information on the nature of their injuries with necessary paperwork for billing (claim number, place of work, etc.).
Call in prescriptions as directed by physician and complete appropriate documentation in the chart.
Filing of charts, dictation, test results, etc.
Maintains medical record information in the strictest of confidence.

Assist during medical examinations
Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
Handle receivable and payable accounts and keep financial records
