Radiation Fibrosis - If you are experiencing tightness in the tissues or decreased joint movements after radiation therapy in the cancer treatment, you might have radiation fibrosis.
You might feel the hardened and thickened tissues in radiated area and have difficulty moving the limb in the affected area. It might start a few months after the treatment is completed.

Manual Lymph Drainage, massages and streches specific to radiation fibrosis can be helpful to support continuous recovery from cancer treatments. I can help you to improve safely from this condition and share my knowledge for self care. I have treated clients who suffered from this tissue changes, and they are feeling much better with softer skin and tissues and improved arm movements after the therapies.

Sometimes our lives get too busy, and we forget to prioritize our own bodies. We might have no time to quietly sit down all day. We might have a bit of time to rest, but our brains are often overwhelmed by thinking and planning, or stimulated by too much information from everywhere.
When we go to receive massage, we are committing to allow our body to relax and decompress both physically and mentally. Our phones are off, we can enjoy each massage stroke, and just be there for taking care of yourself.
When I give a massage, I am grateful for an opportunity to be calm. I love and enjoy that an important part of my work is to take a deep breath and tell myself "ok now, slow, down." And I realize that my clients are helping me to focus and be mindful, that's the time I really need when my daily life get too busy.
I applaud my clients' commitments to give the time to take care of themselves. We all need that time, and I am very thankful that they are giving me the time to slow myself down as well!

If you have a planned surgery coming up, you can prepare your body before the surgery for a smooth recovery.
You can massage the area to make muscles more relaxed and promote better circulation before the procedure, so the tissue is ready to heal. Even if you cannot touch the part you will get an operation, such as abdominal surgery, you can prepare your lymphatic circulation to be in the better condition by gentle lymphatic drainage. Learn how to do abdominal breathing before the surgery, so you can start soon for a better circulation and reduce swelling in your recovery.
Just rubbing the area gently is better than not doing it. But if you would like to know more for your specific needs, please let me know. I would be happy to provide information. That can be a short educational session, so you can do it at home.

Does massage work?
When you search online, the answer is, "yes" ๐Ÿ˜Š.
It helps us relax, refresh, and it just feels so good, and those are already good enough reasons to get a massage!
But I think the answer might be "depends," depends on what "work" you are thinking of.
You can read all the benefts of massage, but massage does not fix your problems unless you also work on the issues after a massage.
Massage gives your body an opportunity to go back closer to the body's nutral position. After a massage, you maybe able to move your shoulders better or have less aches in the back. Then, you can start working on the underlyng issues by changing the movements and positions of the body that gave more tensions in the muscles.
You can ask your massage therapists what could be good changes. Even though we are not physical therapists, we can help you identifying something that may help your body.
So, massage works for a short times, but it can really work when combining with your awareness of the body. And stay positive, a small change might help you in a long way.

If you have a low back ache, try this and see if it helps to alleviate your pain by compressing and stretching the glutes muscles and fascia.
Very easy and no tools needed, or actually your hands are the tools.

Lie down on your back and place your hands by the sacral bone ( triangle shaped bone below the low back). Slowly rotate your legs side to side. The legs can be straight or the knees bent. Even small movements can be effective. If you can move more, you can massage the side of the glutes, which are often tight but we don't notice. The hand can be open or you can make a soft fist.
You can try this at bedtime, and your body will be more relaxed for a good night sleep๐Ÿ˜ด

*this is not recommended if you have weak bones, wrist or hand issues. Always ask your doctor if you have health concerns before trying a new exercise!
