If a close friend or relative has slowly become distant, and when reaching out to them their response is slow, short, or even 'curt', you need to decide if rekindling or re-cultivating your relationship with them is worth your time and effort? Sometimes it's worth trying to reconnect, sometimes it's not. If the latter, it doesn't mean *they* are not worth the effort, it means that they have moved on in their lives.

Finally, if you do eventually reconnect with past relatives or friends, don't expect that everything will be just as it was when you last saw them, or when you last spoke to them. They've changed, and you've changed.
