As a professor, I worry deeply about the future of our profession and the ability of students to afford graduate nursing education at a time when our healthcare system needs them most.
That’s why I’m incredibly grateful to more than 140 bipartisan members of Congress in urging the Department of Education to ensure nursing students, including those pursuing post-baccalaureate and graduate degrees, have access to the federal loans they need to complete their education.
👏 Thank you to our nursing congressional leaders:
• Rep. Lauren Underwood, RN
• Rep. Jen Kiggans, RN
👏 Special thanks to our Illinois leaders who signed on:
• Rep. Lauren Underwood, RN
• Rep. Danny K. Davis
• Rep. Delia C. Ramirez
• Rep. Jan Schakowsky
• Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi
• Rep. Robin Kelly
• Rep. Eric Sorensen
• Rep. Bill Foster
Every day, I see talented, driven students who want to serve but cost remains a real barrier. Supporting access to federal loans for advanced practice nursing education is essential to protecting patient access, strengthening the workforce, and securing the future of nurse anesthesia education.
