~NAME IT TO TAME IT~
A skill for managing and controlling your emotions and physical sensations.

Labeling your feelings and physical sensations as they arise helps engage the prefrontal cortex of the brain which is responsible for decision making, social and emotional regulation, and problem solving.
Once you name a sensation and/or emotion, it looses some of its power over you.
A wonderful practice is labeling and naming our sensations as they arise.

Begin by taking 5 deep, slow breaths.
Start by noticing what emotions shows up. Just be curious.
You are not intellectualizing the emotion, but rather looking right at it. Allow yourself to feel into that emotion noticing what happens when we give the emotion space and allow it to be felt.

Our emotions color our experience in life, it is easy for us to get swept up in chasing pleasant emotions and avoiding the negative. But this keeps our mind on a constant roller coaster and our nervous systems on guard.
When we can step back and get curious about our emotions, the grip they have on us begins to loosen. When we realize what’s inside of us, it can be the catalyst we need to bring ourselves back to balance and relax into the present moment.
