Who knew that savory oatmeal is amazing?
Maybe I’m late to the game and y’all know about this delicious and healthy gem. A smart young patient of mine introduced me to it last week.
Here, I’ve got a combo of oats cooked in chicken broth, garden kale sautéed with garlic, soy, mirin, and sesame, a medium-soft boiled egg, a dollop of yogurt, a tablespoon of South River miso, and it’s topped with toasted nuts and oats. It’s a combo of my patient’s recommendation (miso is brilliant, dear!), a NYT recipe, and my own ideas. I like to triangulate when I cook.
