This is older than Steven Hayes. This idea stems from many religions and cultures and is an important reminder as we (culturally) do not do well with allowing ourselves to fully experience the variety of emotions that come with being alive.

Transitions are not for the weak! You might be leaving something familiar, starting something unknown or somewhere in the middle of old and new. Change is a part of life whether we like it or not. Hold onto your Self in the process. Ground yourself and trust that no matter what, you can make it. You have an entire personal cookbook filled with your and your ancestor’s survival strategies.

My heart is broken. AGAIN. It’s not the first time this level of violence has happened. I’m holding the children, their families, the police officers, the first responders, doctors, nurses and community members in the deepest part of my heart. I’m sharing a community resource I came across💔❤️

Eating disorder recovery is not for the weak. So much privilege comes with being in society’s “ideal” body. There is no denying that. There are also so many horrific consequences from engaging in disordered eating. Your desire around both recovery and body acceptance as well as desire to be thin is completely normal.

When you have an understanding of your automatic responses using a trauma lens, it brings clarity and compassion which allows for change. Observe yourself with kindness and learn more about your go-to responses when activated. Do you tend to go into fight, flight, freeze, or fawn?
