Psychotherapist & Women's Burnout Coach 🌻 Healing Burnout for Women Who Do It All - by reigniting their mental, emotional and physical health through a proven, holistic program backed by 15+ years of expertise. Most work nights I go to bed when I'm tired, around 9 or 9:30 pm, I get up early to exercise at a Cross Fit gym, I spend time outdoors in the light of day as much as I can, I read clinical and research material that fascinates and inspires me (about the body, psychology, humanity, community, and the brain), and I eat lots of veggies and nuts and seeds, and little processed foods. I am passionate about finding instinctive ways to enjoy and engage in life and relationships, internally and interpersonally, before turning to medications or other medical interventions. I love hanging out with my husband of 25 years, and my 17 and 22 year olds, spending time with my compassionate friends and sisters, and traveling to Europe just to sit and hang out in many, many different cafes. I also love to ride my bike like up and down sidewalk curbs, take care of plants in my front and back garden, wash our dog, Mercy, create fun and helpful content, videos and lessons (on Canva) and use my ballet bar in my office to stretch throughout the day!

Thinking (and Being) Outside the Box:

SIX reasons to step away from work mode and head outside:

1)Just 20 minutes in nature can significantly reduce the body's primary stress hormone (cortisol).

2)Nature can improve mood, reduce anger, and boost self-awareness & self-esteem.

3)Walking in nature can lower blood pressure and heart rate.

4)Nature can boost endorphins and dopamine (joy).

5)The scents in nature can arouse emotions that reduce chronic stress.

6)Focusing on something in the moment can deepen the breath and pause anxious thoughts.

Fun and Self Care are two keys to THRIVING in life (and work).

Being BOLD with your self care creates automatic fun.

What are some of the ways you engage in Bold Self Care?

I go outside on the grass and do handstands for 10-15 minutes. Being outdoors shifts my mindset to remembering and nurturing my needs, and handstands help my shoulders and upper back tightness. I also love practicing them - it makes me strong and I have fun.

Another BSC (Bold Self Care) is taking a dance class in a new studio/class I've never been to. Engaging with new people in the community adds boldness to self care. Dancing can also be incredibly invigorating.

Another favorite is to go out on my bike and ride on the sidewalk for short stretches where I can go off the curb when safe, so I get a little taste of how I rode as a kid - adding some fun and a little thrill.

When you add BOLDNESS to your self care, you expand its efficacy in countless ways.

What are some of your ideas for BSC? When is the last time you engaged in them?

Here's to BSC!

Reach out to learn how I can help you reignite a passionate life so work/life balance becomes life/work joy. Consistently.

Evelyn, LMFT
