Looks like mother nature is coming to the rescue against the dreaded Emerald Ash Borer. That's great news for our forests.

Woodpeckers find emerald ash borers a handy food source and may slow the spread of this noxious pest, even ultimately controlling it, suggest researchers.

This London Plane Tree has a severe fungal infection of Anthracnose. With our continuously cool damp spring, there's a higher than normal amount of fungus activity on trees this year. For the most part, the window to apply fungicide has long passed. No reason for alarm though if you're an Organic Air client. Ever seen a big tree covered in Ivy all the way up the trunk? Ever wondered if all that Ivy is bad for the tree? The Ivy itself, is not parasitic to the tree. However, after awhile, the vine forms such a solid mat of roots, that moisture gets trapped against the the trunk and bark starts to decay. This interrupts the vascular system of the tree and leads to a weak, thinning canopy. Falling branches and limbs become a constant hazard.

When selecting nursery stock, either at the grower or at a garden center, check the outer edge of the container for circling roots. This tree grew in the pot way too long. Once roots start to circle, they stay that way. Results in a weak, poor quality plant.
