Did you know the Community Ambulance has vital members who are NOT emergency care providers? We currently have 3 supportive staff positions!

One of these is our organization secretary. Our current secretary has worked diligently to help keep things running smoothly for the past 8 years! However, she’s decided it’s now time for her to retire, which means we are looking for a dedicated community member to take on this important role.

It’s officially smoke season here in our corner of the valley. Wildfire smoke can hurt your eyes, irritate your lungs, and worsen chronic conditions. To lower your risks of exposure and negative effects, implement a few simple actions:

1. Limit time outdoors - especially avoiding vigorous activity
2. Stay hydrated
3. Keep indoor air as clean as possible

Check in frequently with family members, friends, and neighbors, especially those in higher risk groups such as the elderly, young children, pregnant women, and anyone with preexisting conditions such as asthma or heart conditions.

For more information about wildfires and your health, visit www.montanawildfiresmoke.org/health-risks.html and https://dphhs.mt.gov/airquality/SmokefromFires

As always, call 911 if you or someone you know has an emergency!

Important PSA!!! Please avoid the closures and stay alert for increased fire traffic in the surrounding areas.

⚠️TEMPORARY ROAD AND TRAIL CLOSURE-Ulm Fire Closure

A temporary closure surrounding the Ulm Creek Fire has been signed by both the Idaho Panhandle and the Kootenai National Forests.

The purpose of the closure is for public and firefighter safety due to an active wildfire and ongoing suppression activities.

The Gem Peak Lookout and Gem Peak Warming Hut on the Cabinet Ranger District are both now closed as they fall within the closure order area. All reservations for the lookout have been cancelled and anyone with future reservations has been or will be notified. For further questions, please call the Cabinet Ranger District at 406-827-3533.

A harmless day of fun can quickly turn into a tragic event. By always wearing your life jacket and asking others to do so too, it could save your life or the life of someone you care about.

Are you prepared???

Sudden cardiac arrest can occur anywhere. In the US, over 350,000 occur out of the hospital every year. Beginning immediate CPR and using an AED can double or even triple the chance of survival! Unfortunately, less than half of these cases receive assistance from bystanders before emergency services arrive.

This week is National CPR and AED Awareness week. Take a minute to learn these two easy steps for Hands Only CPR:

1. If you see an adult or teen suddenly collapse, call 911 immediately.
2. Push hard and fast in the center of the chest to the beat of a song with about 110 beats per minute, like “Stayin’ Alive”.

If you’re interested in learning more and preparing yourself for this and other common emergencies, contact to schedule your own CPR and First Aid class.

Taking part in training drills is just one way we strive to improve care for our community. We are grateful to be in an area that prioritizes both learning and collaboration with other services!

Always a great experience to practice with Clark Fork Valley Hospital, Thompson Falls Ambulance, and Plains Community Ambulance!

The 2025 EMS Week theme has been: We care. For everyone.

This includes taking care of ourselves as well, so we can continue to fully serve our community. Today, we ended the week with a picnic for our volunteers and their families.

From brand new faces to those we’ve known for years - EMTs, dedicated drivers, and support staff - we are thankful for each one who plays a part in our service.

From 1971 to 2025 and beyond - we care, for everyone.
