GRITTY; Resourceful, Hard Charging, Scrappy, Unflinching, Resolute, Gutsy, Fearless, Courageous, Brave….
Thanks Cheyenne for a little mid-winter reminder that silence can indeed be determination (Grit) in progress.
I had a professional athlete say to a colleague and me once - “Watch out for the quiet ones - they often have more grit and character than the boasters”.
I’m quiet. Always have been, and used to get called out ALL THE TIME for it. That’s okay with midlife me - but it used to hit hard. “Too quiet”, “too kind”, & “too straight an arrow” (yes, I’m a rule follower) used to be hurtful statements.
Now I smile, and carry on. I’m still quietly working on getting the 4x4 engaged in my small business - and it means THE WORLD to me that my current clients keep showing up for me; calling, asking, & sharing. I am so close, and sometimes so far away from “security” in this adventure - but I AM GRITTY, and think outside the box daily.
Dreams require Grit. So, I’ll be over here quietly scrapping, clawing, digging, and observing (taking notes) while also standing monumentally proud at the same time. 👏🏼💪✌️
Grit isn’t loud.
It doesn’t beg for applause.
It shows up when no one is watching…and does the hard thing anyway.
Determination is choosing to keep going when it would be easier to quit.
It’s early mornings, tired bones, dirt under your nails, and a heart that refuses to fold.
Doing hard things builds something no one can ever take from you…
Confidence.
Self-respect.
Pride.
You don’t have to prove anything to the world.
You just have to make yourself proud.
And when you do…that pride runs deeper than success ever could.
Stand tall.
Dig deep.
Do the hard thing.
