Oak Brook Chapter launches “virtual” fundraising campaign:
The Oak Brook Chapter’s 2020 Mistletoe Medley “virtual event” fundraising campaign kicked off with the initial direct mail announcement sent out to 1,000+ loyal supporters immediately following the Labor Day holiday. The multi-pronged fundraising campaign will use a variety of elements including email, online and social media tie-ins to help raise funds to continue the Chapter’s support of the Angel Harvey Family Health Center (of the Infant Welfare Society). The virtual elements of the campaign, such as a possible Zoom fashion show and “micro” events, will continue to be rolled out during the Fall and into the Holiday Season, culminating in early December. And, the Chapter has already reserved Drury Lane as the venue for its 2021 Preview Party and Mistletoe Medley Fashion Show / Luncheon. Those dates are November 29 and 30, 2021 – when the Chapter plans for its signature events to be back in a bigger and better way.

Special donation adds to virtual Baby Shower success.
More than a dozen members “zoomed in” for our annual Baby Shower in mid-June. The Teddy Bear Picnic-themed virtual event netted over $1,400 in donations of beautiful new baby clothes and much-needed baby gear. In addition, Oak Brook Chapter supporter Susan Heil made an unexpected and generous contribution, through the Susan and Eleanor Heil Family Foundation, which coincided with the Teddy Bear Picnic Baby Shower.

Well-deserved Recognition for Our "Champion for Children"...
Members of the Oak Brook Chapter of the Auxiliary were on hand at a special ceremony to honor Minnie Sandstedt's decades of work on behalf of the Infant Welfare Society. On March 7, Minnie received the organization's prestigious Chicago Champion for Children Award, which is given annually to those individuals who have had a profound and lasting impact on the organization. Impressively, our Champion for Children has devoted nearly 60 years of service to the Auxiliary, having joined the group in 1959. Certainly, Minnie Sandstedt is, in the truest sense of the word, a champion. On hand for the presentation were (left to right): Vienna Bennett, Joyce Cox-Cunningham, Dottie Mele, Minnie Sandstedt (the honoree), Marge Tresley, Natalie Machul, Barbara Benezra, Diane Pesce and Linda Celesia.

Cheers for Our Champions...
Honoring two of its own, the Auxiliary of the Infant Welfare Society is giving its prestigious Chicago Champion for Children Award to Charlotte Shestokas and Oak Brook's Minnie Sandstedt, who have had a profound and lasting impact on the organization. Impressively, our Champions for Children have a combined 105 years of service to the Auxiliary. Minnie joined the organization in 1959 and Charlotte in 1972. It is no exaggeration to say they have held dozens of jobs during their decades of service. Certainly, Minnie Sandstedt and Charlotte Shestokas are, in the truest sense of the word, champions.
