This Friday, October 15 is Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra to Hindus and Dashain to Buddhists.

Vijaya means victory in Sanskrit

Ancient warriors (men and women) consumed Vijaya before and after battle to assume victory.

Vijaya is also associated with the power of the divine feminine as seen through Goddess Durga, an inspiration to Amazon warrior women, who defeated demons.

We recently grabbed a copy of “Through the Decades” which reprinted “How to Roll a Spliff.” Their chosen method of rolling? Corn husks! Yes, corn husks have been used as rolling papers for centuries, even predating cannabis use (to***co was commonly smoked in husks). It is a widely known practice in areas where corn is grown—most notably in Jamaica! Other alternatives to rolling papers include bamboo shoots, fronto leaves and palm leaves!
