Yesterday, we led our Responsible AI Working Group, co-hosted by and , sponsored by .

The day opened with remarks from Luke Terra, . We also heard from Professor Daniel Ho, Stanford RegLab, on the importance of evaluation and how communities can play an important part in setting standards.

After such a great set-up, we were joined by Alice Siu, Stanford Deliberative Democracy Lab, for a fireside chat moderated by Sergio Marrero, where the two discussed what responsible AI looks like in practice in democracy and civic spaces, and where the field is headed.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to a vibrant day of discussions! We’ll share more soon.

Jess represented NMV as a pitch competition judge for the “Building the High Tech Startup” class at USC Viterbi School of Engineering. The 8 student ventures on display tackled real problems — from preventing youth access to fi****ms to improving accessibility for theater and opera audiences.

Thank you to professors ShiaoFong Yin and Martin Prescher for cultivating this kind of entrepreneurial energy, and to fellow judges Tony Ghanem, Emmett Hassen, and Keith Schaefer.

To every student who pitched: we see you. Keep building. 🚀

We’re excited to continue highlighting our civic infrastructure slate!

Next up:

Indivisible is redefining what grassroots democracy looks like in America, moving beyond passive civic engagement to build real, organized people power in communities across every state. Founded in 2016 by former congressional staffers, Indivisible grew from a practical guide for civic action into a nationwide movement of millions, with more than 2,000 local, volunteer-led groups in urban, suburban, and rural communities alike.

By providing tools, training, research, and strategic coordination, Indivisible equips everyday people to take effective action, whether that means protecting free and fair elections, stopping harmful legislation, or demanding bold solutions to the challenges we face. Their model proves that when organized people show up and hold power accountable, political outcomes change.

Stay tuned as we continue spotlighting the innovators building stronger civic infrastructure.

Pulling back the curtain on a milestone moment for our network: the + + integration is exactly what values-aligned innovation looks like in action. This rare, all-women-led M&A came together quickly—not by chance, but because of the deep trust, shared standards, and community-first ethos that define New Rising Ventures founders. When that foundation is in place, you skip the noise and get straight to building what matters.

More than a deal, this is a blueprint for responsible AI in media—where human judgment, editorial integrity, and audience engagement aren’t replaced, but strengthened. By integrating Stylebot’s editorial rigor and Hearken’s participatory model into Indiegraf’s ecosystem, this collaboration shows how AI can deepen trust, not dilute it.

We are proud to support founders who are shaping a more thoughtful, sustainable future for independent media.

A much overdue SXSW recap!

Phil headed to Austin for a couple days to be in community, and around conversations on innovation in tech, entertainment and more. He attended THE LIGHT HOUSE 2026, the fourth annual gathering by The Tech We Want. This year’s theme was that love, as practice, as infrastructure, as resistance, is the most powerful operating system we have
