Meltdowns can feel intense for both children and parents. When your child is overwhelmed, their nervous system is struggling to stay safe and regulated. What helps most is when you remain calm and are there for your child throughout these hard moments.

A few ways you can support your child:
💫 Reduce noise, demands, or extra stimulation
💫 Focus on safety for your child and yourself
💫 Reconnect once they are calm
💫 Wait to teach coping skills until they are calm

If meltdowns are impacting your daily routines or feel difficult to navigate alone, we’re here to help. Our ABA team works with you to build strategies and communication skills to support you and your family through everyday moments.

The behaviors that feel the hardest are often the ones that show the most growth. What looks like testing limits, ignoring directions, and saying “no” over and over can actually mean:
💫 Your child is learning how to be independent
💫 They’re figuring out cause and effect
💫 Your child is practicing communication

It’s not always easy in the moment, but these behaviors are often a sign that a new skill is developing. ABA therapy can support your child in building communication, independence, and coping skills while guiding you with practical strategies you can use at home!

Behavior isn’t one-size-fits-all and neither is the support your child deserves. In ABA therapy, we don’t just try to stop a behavior. We look deeper to understand why it’s happening and if skills might be in need of development.

Behind every behavior is a need:
💫 Struggling to wait? We teach coping strategies
💫 Trouble with transitions? We teach flexibility and introduce routines
💫 Leaving tasks or caregivers? We teach safety awareness and staying nearby

When we focus on teaching skills instead of just reducing behaviors, progress happens. Every child is different. Their therapy should be too!

Looking for support? Reach out to learn more about our services! We have a limited number of spots open for new clients and would love to help!

Some kids struggle with table top tasks, like sitting for coloring, completing a puzzle, or finishing worksheets. Most of the time, your child isn’t trying to be difficult. They’re still building the skills needed to manage the task.

Here’s a few simple ways you can help:
💫 Keep activities short and engaging
💫 Make sure their feet are supported and posture is stable
💫 Use movement breaks to reset and refocus

Our OT looks beyond the behavior to understand what is really going on. Is it attention? Posture? Motor skills? We’re here to help and provide resources and guidance to meet your child’s unique needs. Reach out with any questions!

Why does your child seem “fine” everywhere else but struggle most at home?

After holding it together all day, many children release big emotions once they are back with you.

This is more common than you might think! Home is their safe space, and you are their safe person. When those big feelings come out, they are not looking to misbehave. They are looking for support, connection, and help calming their bodies.

If your child’s behaviors are starting to impact daily routines, or you are unsure how to best support them, you are not alone. Our team is here to help! Reach out to learn more about our services!

The best news? You don’t have to figure this out alone! Our OT team is here to help. We can help your child build their fine motor skills in a fun, supportive way! Reach out to learn more about our services!
