It’s strawberry season!! Strawberry season is when I truly feel summer has arrived.
It was a beautiful morning at the farm, with so many berries to pick from. I was definitely in my happy place! In addition to tasting delicious, strawberries have many health benefits:
🍓Excellent source of Vitamin C
🍓Good source of Fiber, Folate,
Manganese, and Potassium
🍓Rich in antioxidants
🍓Low in calories
🍓Fat free, sodium free,
cholesterol free
Fun Facts:
Strawberries are grown in every state. They are grown in nearly every country in the world, but the US is the world’s largest producer of strawberries. They are a member of the rose family.
There are so many ways to enjoy strawberries. Eat them fresh, add to a fruit and yogurt parfait, mix in with your cereal and oatmeal, blend into your smoothies, toss into your summer salad, enjoy as a dessert (a dollop of whipped cream is ok!).
Selection and storage tips:
Look for bright red, plump berries with green caps. Store in the refrigerator for 1 to 3 days. Wash just before use.
