.sue.seas came by the studio for our fundraiser this month and we love seeing the studio through her eyes 🥹😍.
Thank you Sue for these awesome shots and to all these beautiful humans who came to share the practice of yoga for a cause of helping a local south jersey family struggling with cancer. 🙏🏼
Every month we gather in (service) and dedicate a practice to raising funds for a local charity. We collect all month long through Venmo and our donations box (brown box above the white cubbies in the studio found under this classic 😉).
Seva is crucial to yoga because it embodies Karma Yoga, or the yoga of action, by promoting spiritual growth and personal transformation through selfless service, fostering humility, compassion, and a sense of unity with others. Not only is it necessary to live a yogic life, but it truly makes us happier and feel better.
Seva is a selfless action. At times we post about our charity of the month to create awareness (and say thank you to epic photographers like .sue.seas 😉) and other months we donate silently. But it will always be a part of the fabric of TLY.
Seva is not something we do for clout, attention, or recognition. It’s not something you make money off of. It is a selfless giving of your time and energy with no expectation of return.
You can practice seva by performing physical labor like cleaning or cooking for someone. It could be donating your time if you have a special skill, sweeping a floor, donating money or food, or donating your time as you offer comfort or support to someone.
It doesn’t have to be a big non profit project with thousands, it could be cleaning up the beach today. Start where you are and notice the effects in your heart.
Thank you again .sue.seas for your seva ! 🙏🏼
✨Let yoga be more than just moving your body,
move for a purpose. ✨
In what ways will you do this next month?
