Owner Greg Cenac approached me about carrying my product in his new joint, so I went to check it out. This place is not like any other! As he gave me the tour, I fell in love with the place.
I’m drawn in by his passion not to sell oysters, but to steward the marine environment, farm oysters, and create an educational park experience!
A marine biologist who works the oyster farm & boat captain also work the shop. The shop not only provides oysters, recycled oyster net beach bags, ice cream, and local artist goods, but history of… Oystering. Is oystering a word? I dunno, you’ll have to ask them.
After making your way through the shop, you’ll head out to the deck where you’ll learn to shuck oysters and eat them while overlooking the water, and maybe see their boat come in. There are even grills on the deck if you want them seasoned & cooked!
But before sitting to eat, you can follow the signs to experience the educational tour of oysters, how they grow and how they’re farmed. Because I’m a plant person, I got particularly excited when I saw their display of grass they grow to provide for the water and beaches.
So, yea, I’m super excited about this place and stoked to be a part with fellow humans who steward God’s beautiful earth well.
I highly recommend taking the kids after school or during school for my fellow homeschoolers! I highly recommend for date night as well or lunch break to get your mind de-stressed.
