💵 Fundraiser linked in profile bio. - A memorial scholarship fund has been created in honor of “Mama Tee” Tina Ward, one of the four victims killed in a plane crash earlier this week in . Ward has been identified as the wife of a recently retired Oceanside deputy fire chief. “She gave so much of her light and love to others through her service of 30+ years as a paramedic and a critical care nurse”, the fundraiser says, adding “Her daughters and loving husband would like to memorialize her legacy and her unparalleled selflessness and mentorship through the Tina Ward Memorial Scholarship Fund”. All funds donated will go directly toward scholarships for underrepresented students working on furthering their careers in EMS.
The Learjet 35A took off from John Wayne Airport in Orange County and was scheduled to land at Gillespie Field. Shortly after air traffic control had cleared the plane to land, it crashed into a residential area about 1.4 miles from the end of the runway. The three other victims were identified by the Medical Examiner’s office as 68-year-old Laurie Gentz of Escondido, 45-year-old Douglas Grande, and 67-year-old Julian Bugaj.
A preliminary report from the NTSB detailing the circumstances of the accident is expected within the next several weeks. The final report is expected within one to two years.
