Michiganders are suffering catastrophic injuries in car crashes each day, and with shortcomings in the 2019 auto no-fault law, they're left suffering instead of healing.

The recent Michigan Court of Appeals case is a step forward in ensuring that those who are injured receive the high-quality, personalized care they deserve.

Recent court rulings could force insurance companies to pay more for home care for the most severely injured crash victims in Michigan.

Last week’s court ruling restoring fair reimbursement for auto no-fault home care is more than a legal victory. It is a lifeline for survivors and the caregivers who stand by them every day.

For years, families have struggled to find agencies able to provide care under rates that did not cover the cost of service. This decision brings hope that those injured in crashes can once again receive the quality care they deserve, at home where healing happens best.

Michiganders are well-intentioned when signing up for car insurance, and they expect their selected insurer to be working in good faith. However, companies like CURE are acting less for the benefit of their customers. It is with these practices that customers are at risk of being denied the expected and needed support after an accident.

We are proud to stand with leaders like Senator Stabenow who are calling on Congress to protect home health benefits and focus on fighting fraud instead of cutting care. This is about doing what’s right: holding bad actors accountable while ensuring patients can continue receiving the support they need at home.

At MHHA, we know firsthand how critical these services are for Michigan families. We’ll continue advocating to keep care accessible, reliable, and delivered with dignity.

I think it’s safe to say that access to quality skilled home health care when you need it is a priority for every American.

The Michigan HomeCare & Hospice Association was proud to host the Vulnerable Adult Abuse & Neglect Seminar today at Baker College in Owosso.

Over the course of the day, participants gained tools to identify, report, and respond to abuse, neglect, and exploitation. We had sessions on mandatory reporting requirements, financial exploitation, dementia in individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and prosecutorial perspectives.

We’re grateful to our presenting sponsor, PFCU Credit Union, and to First Day Homecare, and the Alzheimer's Association® Michigan chapter for their support.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in advancing safety and dignity for Michigan’s most vulnerable adults.
