“We believe all people have a right to express their unique joy and beauty, and we use humor and irrelevant wit to expose the forces of bigotry, complacency and guilt that chain the human spirit. The Sisters of the Sacred Heartland begin our work as a Mission House in Oklahoma City in early 2011. We achieved our goal and celebrated our evaluation in September of 2012, becoming a fully professed house of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and the first chapter in Oklahoma. Since our inception we have worked with and raised money for over 25 different nonprofit organizations and community events, and we have donated over $35,000 directly back into our OKC community .

Please visit our mother organization at www.thesisters.org to find out more about the founding of The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence in San Francisco in 1979, and about the work that is carried all around the world by fully professed houses and missions just like ours”

After he signed the bill into law, Gov. Kevin Stitt touted banning drag in front of minors in Oklahoma. Nonetheless, drag is happening all over OKC.

“All drag entertainers start doing drag for different reasons, and we all have different journeys. But one common thing that manifest itself for every drag performer is the power we hold—-not only within ourselves but within our communities. That’s why using our platform to raise awareness and cultivate a safe, inclusive space is vital to a strong, well-educated community. We are so fortunate to live in a time where we have so much knowledge about HIV and the resources available for prevention and treatment . As drag artist, beacons for the community, it’s imperative that we raise our voices, remove the stigmas and educate the public… We’ll also look pretty glamorous doing it too!”
