🛑 Stop doing these things that could harm your eyes!

Contacts lenses: Improper contact lens hygiene can lead to infections, ulcers, dry eye, and more. To reduce the potential risks, wash your hands before putting contacts in and after taking contacts out. Reduce the amount of time spent in contacts by not wearing them while sleeping. Take them out before showering or swimming, as water, especially untreated or contaminated water, can contain microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, or parasites. These can adhere to contact lenses and potentially lead to eye infections.

Cosmetics: Eye makeup that has expired can increase the risk of eye infections. As cosmetics age and come into contact with air, bacteria, and other contaminants, they can become a breeding ground for harmful pathogens. Avoid sharing eye makeup with others. When you use shared eye makeup, you risk transferring those contaminants to your own eyes, potentially leading to infections or other complications.

Rubbing Your Eyes: Your hands can carry bacteria, viruses, or allergens that can be transferred to your eyes when you rub them. This can increase the risk of eye infections, such as pink eye. Rubbing your eyes can also disrupt the tear film that protects and lubricates the eyes. This can result in dry eyes or worsen existing dry eye symptoms, causing discomfort, itchiness, and a gritty sensation.
