Attacking Cancer® was founded by Rodney & Paige Stamps after they successfully attacked and beat Rodney's terminal cancer without surgery, chemotherapy and radiation for 15 years! Rodney was diagnosed with Follicular Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma stage III(b) in September of 2005 and had over fifty tumors. Knowing there was no cure for his disease, and that chemotherapy may or may not prolong his life, Rodney and Paige went on a mission to find a way to beat his terminal prognosis. Even though they met with various trials and tribulations on the way, they were able to successfully manage and eventually put his cancer into remission. After 15 years of successfully treating his cancer with alternative treatments, Rodney’s cancer returned and transformed into an aggressive Diffused Large B Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) that spread throughout his body. Read “cancer updates” on this FB page or at attackingcancer.com to see how Rodney was able to put this DLBCL into remission with alternative medicine and immunotherapy. Rodney and Paige have co-authored several books about their incredible encouraging story of attacking cancer. For more information please visit www.attackingcancer.com. This page is dedicated to all those attacking cancer. We hope the information provided here will give you the encouragement needed to never give up in your fight against cancer.

I was recently asked if I still believe that Alternative Medicine works, since I chose to do conventional treatments when my cancer returned. The short answer is YES! I’ve always been an integrative medicine type of person, wanting to utilize the best of both Alternative and Conventional treatments. I was able to put my own Lymphoma (stage 3b, grade 2) with over 50 tumors on CT scan, into remission utilizing Alternative means for about 12 years!

I’m not a doctor and I don’t give medical advice, but I am an almost 20 year survivor and I’ve been through, or have worked with others through, practically every treatment out there, both Alternative and Conventional, so I will give you my opinion based on my experience. Each person is different, and what worked for me, or them, may not work for you.

I always recommend Alternative Treatments first before any conventional treatments, and this is only if you have time to try them and you’re not in an emergency situation where you must have some type of conventional intervention. Why? Because most, if not all conventional treatments are going to have side effects, some major and long-term and may not be reversible. Conventional treatments are designed to knock down tumors quickly and put you into “remission” not cure your cancer. Although some treatments try to attain a cure like R-CHOP when your lymphoma is very aggressive, or a stem cell transplant or a CAR-T transplant, and these treatments usually do not have a high success rate. (my CAR-T transplant failed after 10 months). However, the majority of conventional treatments are utilized to try and attain remission. Alternative Treatments are designed to build the body back up so that your own body and immune system will fight the cancer without damaging the body. However, I personally don’t think building the body’s immune response is enough so I always recommend alternative treatments that actually attack the cancer cells similar to some conventional treatments. I.e. Pancreatic Enzyme Treatment and others.

I could go on….I’ll stop here. Just my 2 cents. Let’s hear your thoughts? Comment below or feel free to always message me with questions or concerns. We are all in this together and they say knowledge is power, so share what you got! 👊💪💚

Here is a link to both books. We hope you enjoy the memoir of our journey through cancer, and that it motivates you to keep fighting. I’m going on 18 years now surviving lymphoma, and all it brings with it. It’s been the toughest challenge of my life, and probably harder on my wife. We hope our book will encourage you to never give up and remember that life is worth fighting for everyday!

Just a note: our book is not a step-by-step Alternative Medicine protocol book. It’s a memoir about what we did to combat my cancer and the trials we faced in doing so at the time with Alternative treatments.

Please remember to leave us a review on Amazon, good or bad, we want to hear your thoughts about our book. Also feel free to post in the comments or message us with any questions. Keep fighting! 👊💪

EWOT - Exercise with Oxygen Therapy Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been around for a while now, but have you heard of EWOT?

Within the past several years, scientists have found that oxygen (O2) in the atmosphere has been dropping, and at higher rates than just the amount that goes into the increase of CO2 from burning fossil fuels, some 2 to 4-times as much, and accelerating since 2002-2003. Simultaneously, oxygen level....

We wrote in our book how the Nagourney Institute (formerly Rational Therapeutics) is able to test your biopsy tissue or pleural fluid if it happens to be present, to determine what drugs are most likely to work in killing your cancer. I wasn’t able to have this test before I started standard chemo/immunotherapy for lymphoma for several reasons, but I was able to have it before I started CAR-T. I met with Dr. Nagourney and his staff. Wonderful people. If you haven’t had a biopsy yet, you may want to contact the Nagourney Institute beforehand and inform your oncologist about the test. Cancer update - Part 4 of 4

Once we arrived in Calabasas, we met the doctor and really liked him and his staff. After he reviewed my chart and scans from the hospital, he recommended that I have at least five more treatments of B&R since my cancer was so advanced. I didn’t like the idea of five more treatments, so I agreed to three more and then a scan to see how it was working. Since I was going to be treated at his clinic for several months, we decided to rent an apartment in nearby Woodland Hills, CA.

After three more treatments of B&R, the ascites subsided, but I was still struggling with the pleural effusion in my left lung and continued to have a Thoracentesis performed about every two weeks. I think I had around 15 total before a port was placed so I could drain my lung myself. My scan showed that the chemo wasn’t working as we hoped, so the oncologist recommended that I consider having CAR-T, a relatively new immunotherapy treatment where they extract your own T-cells and modify them in a lab to attack the cancer, and then infuse them back into your body. After researching CAR-T, I realized it worked similar to the Pancreatic Enzyme treatment. Cancer cells hide from the body’s immune system, so the theory behind the Pancreatic Enzyme treatment is that they attack the protein around the cancer cell and expose the cancer to your T-cells, or natural killer cells. CAR-T therapy seemed to work in a similar way, in that it binds to specific antigens on the cancer cells to reveal the cancer to the immune system. Here’s an excerpt from cancer.net explaining how CAR-T therapy works:

“CAR T-cell therapy makes T cells focus their attention toward a substance the body thinks is harmful called an antigen, which is found on the surface of specific cancer cells. In the manufacturing of CAR T cells, a protein is added to the T cell’s surface to help them achieve this focus. This protein is called a chimeric antigen receptor, or CAR. This CAR protein is actually made up of 3 other proteins: 1 protein that recognizes antigens on the cancer cell and 2 proteins that signal the T cell to activate when that first protein attaches to an antigen on the cancer cell. When a T cell has a CAR added to it, it is called a “CAR T cell.” CAR T cells work by floating around the body and looking for cells that carry the antigen programmed into the CAR protein, like certain cancer cells.

When a CAR T cell comes in contact with an antigen on a cancer cell, it activates. Activated CAR T cells multiply and signal to other parts of the immune system to come to the site of the cancer cell. These signaling proteins are called cytokines. All of these cytokines and activated T cells then cause significant inflammation focused at the cancer cell, which causes the cancer cell to die. If all of the cancer cells die, the cancer can become in remission, which means the cancer has disappeared either temporarily or permanently.”

After studying up on CAR-T therapy, I found it very promising and agreed to meet with the CAR-T team at City of Hope in Duarte, CA. We made the drive from Woodland Hills to Duarte and met with the lead oncologist. All of my medical records were sent to him prior to my visit, and after he evaluated me he said he thought that I would be a good candidate for CAR-T. However, my insurance would have to approve the treatment, which would cost upwards of a million dollars, not including out of pocket expenses. He was also concerned that as a Jehovah’s Witness I wouldn’t take a blood transfusion if needed during the treatment. He didn’t think the CAR-T team would agree to treat me without the use of blood due to liability issues, so he said he would meet with the team and get back to me. I won’t go into details here, but after meeting with the team several times they agreed to treat me. Fortunately, my insurance also approved the treatment.

The next step was to extract my T-cells and send them to a lab for modification. Once the lab receives the cells it takes about four weeks to get them back. Mine were due to arrive on October 6, 2021 so I was hospitalized on October 1, 2021 to begin three days of chemotherapy called lymphodepletion, so that the normal immune system wouldn’t think the CAR T-cells were abnormal and reject them. After the three days of chemo I was given two days to rest before the infusion of the CAR-T cells on October 6th.

Once my new CAR-T cells arrived, they were infused back into me. Again, I won’t go into details here, but I discuss the many potential side effects of the CAR-T cell treatment in our new book. I experienced little to no side effects from the treatment. I was in the hospital for a total of 17 days and then released. A follow up PET scan was scheduled for 30 days to see if the treatment worked. I had the PET scan and expected it to come back with cancer still in my body. My body was so riddled with cancer, they couldn’t even detect my bladder in an ultrasound. Unbelievably, the PET scan came back as “no evidence of disease” (NED). We were all shocked and beyond ecstatic, including the doctors! I was amazed at how fast the treatment worked.

Currently, I am still in California making my follow up appointments each month with my CAR-T team at City of Hope. I am also awaiting surgery to remove my ureteral stents. Overall I feel like my body is recovering and I’m feeling better. The only noticeable side effect is neuropathy in my feet, which I’m sure is from the chemo. At times it’s very painful and I can’t walk on my feet. I’m treating it with a tens machine and topical ointment, but nothing really helps to relieve the pain. I’m also working closely with Pamela to see if I can get back on a maintenance dose of the pancreatic enzymes. Since CAR-T therapy is still relatively new, other treatments including alternative treatments, may interfere with the CAR-T cells. I’m cautious and keep my CAR-T team informed of any other treatments I’m considering. Pancreatic enzymes have not been approved yet.

Time will tell if the CAR-T therapy has rid me of cancer for good. One can hope.

Cancer update - Part 3 of 4

Once we arrived in San Diego, we checked into our hotel and scheduled a Thoracentesis at a nearby medical center for the next morning. After the Thoracentesis we drove to Irvine, CA to another clinic that looked promising. This clinic however, offered a combination of both conventional and alternative treatments. I was too sick to fly back home to be treated by my regular oncologist, and he didn’t offer any alternative treatments. I personally knew I needed a combination of both if I was going to survive long term.

After my initial consult with the clinic doctor, I decided to go ahead with the treatment. I knew I needed to act quickly, so I agreed to chemo along with alternative treatments to try and reduce the side effects. Unfortunately the clinic was taking too long to treat me, and kept trying to sell me more treatments, supplements, etc.. I didn’t like how they managed their operation so I found another doctor in Newport Beach, CA. We left the next morning and drove from Irvine to Newport Beach.

When we arrived at our hotel in Newport Beach, I was so sick I could barely function. I was already in a wheelchair because I couldn’t walk, and I looked nine months pregnant from the ascites. My left lung was quickly filling with fluid again and I was struggling to breathe. I was still eating, but hadn’t had a bowel movement in over two weeks. Paige got the doctor on the phone, and she suggested I go to the ER stat.

When we arrived at the ER it didn’t take them long to admit me into the hospital. Paige wasn’t allowed inside due to Covid19 restrictions so she went back to the hotel with our two daughters, who had flown in to help out. I contacted a specific oncologist at the advice of the doctor we met in Newport Beach. He was an older doctor and had over 50 years experience in oncology. He wouldn’t come to the hospital due to Covid and his age, so he coordinated my treatment over the phone. He ordered a slew of exams and blood work, including another Thoracentesis and Paracentesis to drain my lung and abdomen. After he reviewed all my exams and blood work, he recommended that I start chemo (bendamustine) and Rituxin (B&R) immediately. He said if I didn’t take the treatment I might not leave the hospital alive. I knew how serious the situation was, and I was in unrelenting pain, so I agreed.

I ended up staying in the hospital for ten days and convinced them to release me. I felt a little better after the Thoracentesis and Paracentesis, and the B&R treatment knocked down most of my small tumors. I tolerated the treatment well with no side effects at the time. I was hopeful that one or two more treatments would knock down the rest of my cancer, and I could get back on the pancreatic enzyme treatment. The B&R treatment was every 28 days and the doctor we met in Newport Beach recommended that I see a specialized oncologist in Calabasas, CA to continue to be treated. I agreed, so we scheduled treatment with him the following week.

Cancer update - Part 2 of 4

The Enzymes kept my cancer at bay for over 12 years, and then it came back in May 2017. I started the full Enzyme treatment again, and stayed on the protocol for 2 years. I would see my oncologist for regular checkups and blood work, and the small tumors in my neck were going away. Unfortunately my cancer was transforming behind the scenes into an aggressive Diffused Large B Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL), and it was spreading fast. By the time December 2020 came around I became extremely sick. I had a chronic cough which we thought was COVID19. When I went to the walk-in clinic however, it was apparent my cancer had progressed. An X-ray showed that 3/4 of my left lung was filled with fluid. They advised me to go to the ER immediately.

I contacted my oncologist on the way to the ER and after their initial assessment, they admitted me into the hospital. The cancer had indeed spread and had encapsulated both of my kidneys shutting them down. They placed a catheter and then scheduled me for emergency surgery to place ureteral stents. (They told me that I would have been dead in three days if I didn’t have the emergency surgery in order to save both of my kidneys.) They performed a Thoracentesis to drain my lung, which helped alleviate my cough and breathing issues. I also had a tumor wrapped around my IVC that was causing my heart rate to beat at an abnormal resting rate of 130bpm and 150bpm+ when I sat up.

Not wanting chemo and knowing the Enzymes wouldn’t work fast enough to stop the spread of my cancer, I decided to check out of the hospital and head to a doctor I was referred to in Mexico for multiple alternative treatments. We scheduled the next available flight to San Diego, CA and arranged for a driver to pick us up from the airport to transport us across the border into Tijuana.

The doctor met us at the hotel and drove us personally to his clinic. He began treating me with high dose IV vitamin C, Laetrile (B17), Ozone therapy, Mistletoe injections, DMSO, whole body Hyperthermia, Coffee Enemas, juicing and organic food. I did this for 3 weeks, but nothing worked. The cancer continued to progress increasing my LDH, which is a tumor marker for lymphoma, I had edema in my legs and feet, and ascites in my abdomen. I needed another Thoracentesis due to the pleural effusion getting worse.

The doctor recommended that I have chemo and Rituxan, a type of immunotherapy, to see if it would quickly knock down the tumors. I knew that chemo doesn’t cure cancer and can cause numerous serious side effects and even other cancers, but I also knew that chemo usually knocked down tumors quickly if it worked. I was in dire straights with very few options, so we headed back to San Diego.

Cancer Update - Part 1

The human body never ceases to amaze me, it’s intricate design, so complex, yet, having the ability to heal itself even after being put through unimaginable pain and suffering.

When I was initially diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma follicular stage 3b in 2005, doctors gave me only 90 days to live without treatment. I was having terrible “b” symptoms. Severe fatigue, drenching night sweats that became day sweats and rapid weight loss from 194lbs to 135lbs. Although I had numerous tumors throughout my body, none were compromising my organs or causing an immediate life-threatening situation, so I opted out of chemotherapy and instead chose a little known Pancreatic Enzyme treatment.

The use of Pancreatic Enzymes against cancer was first studied by Dr. John Beard in the 1800’s, and based on his studies, Dr. William Donald Kelley, a dentist out of Texas, USA started using Pancreatic Enzymes to treat cancer in the 1960’s. Nicholas Gonzalez, M.D. began investigating Dr. Kelley’s work in the 1980’s, and then began his own practice in New York, of treating cancer with Pancreatic Enzymes, especially pancreatic cancer.

He was even approved for a clinical trial by the National Cancer Institute, which he details in his book “One Man Alone.” After Dr. Gonzalez’s sudden death in 2015, Linda Isaac’s, M.D., his associate of more than 20 years, continued the treatment in her own practice. She’s still treating cancer patients today with Pancreatic Enzymes.

In December of 2005 I started the Enzyme treatment with Pamela McDougle, who worked closely with Dr. Kelley. I had to take 72 enzymes a day, along with many other supplements, diet change, juicing, coffee enemas, and more to help rebuild my body (See our blog at AttackingCancer.com). It took me 11 months to fully recover from my cancer. My wife Paige and I wrote a book about our cancer journey and appropriately titled it “90 Days to Live”. It’s available on Amazon as a free download this week if you’re interested in reading it.

Alternative and Conventional Cancer treatments. Stories of real survivors. Cancer gifts and information about treatments and success stories. Diet recommendations and free recipe’s.

Our Story

What if you were told you had 90 days to live?

For my wife Paige and me, my “out-of-the-blue” cancer diagnosis quickly turned a normally hypothetical question horribly real. When I met my wife, I was a nationally touring heavy-metal drummer, and we both fell hard. I soon swapped my drumsticks for marriage, family, a job, and then, my own business.

The ‘90-Days’ diagnosis hit just as our business was starting to soar.

“You’re going to die” was the solemn verdict from numerous MDs, who promised only to briefly extend my life. With both a growing family and business, and so much living still to do, my response to the no-hope prognosis? “I don’t think so.”
