No shame to any family here—life is busy, mornings are rushed, groceries are expensive. But when most of a child’s lunch is chips, cookies, and candy, we often see:
• Big energy spikes… then crashes 😵💫
• Trouble focusing in class
• Mood swings + meltdowns
• Little tummies still feeling hungry
As an Occupational Therapist, I don’t just work on handwriting and scissors ✍🏽✂️—I also support feeding, sensory needs, and routines around food.
In OT we can help with:
✨ Picky eating and sensory food aversions
✨ Play-based exposure to new foods (no pressure tasting)
✨ Building “power lunches” with at least 1 protein + 1 fruit/veggie + 1 fun snack
✨ Visual checklists so kids can help pack a more balanced lunch
✨ Coaching for families who are overwhelmed and just need easy ideas
Imagine this tray with a few simple swaps: a string cheese instead of one chip bag, apple slices or grapes, water bottle instead of sugary drink… still kid-friendly, but better fuel for learning 💪🏽🧠
If you’d like quick, realistic lunch ideas for your child or support with picky eating, drop a 🥪 in the comments or send me a message. Let’s team up to help our little ones feel their best at school! 💛
