We loved hosting 15-year-old MJ from Belize at our St. Louis golf committee meeting!💙

MJ was diagnosed with an intranasal mass with midline intracranial extension, which made sleeping, breathing, and eating difficult - and school nearly impossible. Before being introduced to World Pediatrics, his condition was first mistaken for a minor sinus issue, until an ENT confirmed he needed major surgery abroad.

Now in the U.S. with his devoted mom, Anlavidia, MJ recently underwent surgery with Dr. Eisenbeis and Dr. Antisdel. Thanks to their care, he can breathe easily, sleep soundly, and no longer worries about his health.

MJ loves cooking, watching TV, and playing video games, and dreams of becoming an architect. He’s made special memories during his recovery in St. Louis -especially visiting the zoo and exploring new places.

From Guatemala to Philadelphia, Javier Grajeda is on a mission to transform pediatric spine care.

🎓 A dedicated medical student and proud South Rotary Club member, Javier has been a key volunteer in our scoliosis program in Guatemala.

🇺🇸 This year, he’s taking his passion further through a two-month observership in Philadelphia with Dr. Steven Hwang and Dr. Joshua Pahys.

🔍 While in the U.S., Javier is learning advanced surgical techniques, indications, and postoperative care for children with spinal deformities—gaining skills that will benefit countless children back home.

Heart of a Warrior 💪💛

At just 14 months, Atreus has already proven his strength. He and his mom, Sabitha, traveled from Saint Lucia to St. Louis this June for critical heart care.

Born with supravalvar aortic stenosis and sickle cell disease, Atreus received two blood transfusions before undergoing open-heart surgery with Dr. Corrine Tan - just one day after a cardiac cath procedure. 🩺

Now on the mend and under close care, he’ll be heading home soon. A brave fighter from the very beginning. ✈️

Last month, we had the honor of welcoming 13-year-old Jashann and her mom, Gilda, from Belize to St. Louis. Jashann was born with scoliosis and has faced growing challenges as her spine became more curved and rigid over time.

Just last week, she underwent a complex spinal fusion surgery at Shriners Children’s St. Louis with Dr. Luhmann. Her old hardware was removed and replaced with new rods and screws to help straighten and support her spine.

Now, Jashann is on the road to recovery, gaining strength each day with her mom by her side at the Ronald McDonald House. In just a few weeks, she’ll head home feeling taller, straighter, and stronger than ever.

We’re so proud to stand with Jashann and her family on this journey of healing and hope. 💙✨
