"Our bodies are brilliant biological computers and me must value and feel more at home in them in order to access the vast treasure of inner knowledge that awaits our attention.

A belief that the body can function in a healthier and more life-fulfilling capacity is a very noble and generous thought.

We must personally examine the relationship we have with our physical form.

Do our beliefs and actions really promote our well-being?

The higher mind and physical body are always seeking and balance, and when inner balance is maintained, the outer world manifests in balance as well."

I’m not against using drugs or psychotherapy, but I think there is much more that we can do to boost mood -- including anxiety and depression -- by focusing on the foods we eat.

You need to treat the body, because the body and brain are one interconnected system. What you do to your body, you do to your brain. Treat your body and you treat your brain.

When you fix your body, you fix your broken brain.

✨Understanding the Basics of The Mind-Body Connection✨

The mind-body connection refers to the unified relationship between a person's thoughts, emotions, and beliefs and their physical health & wellbeing.

The mind & body are not separate entities but rather one integrated system. Changes in one can affect the other.

For example:
Experiencing stress (mind) can manifest as physical symptoms like headaches or stomachaches (body).

The mind-body connection highlights the importance of a holistic approach to health & wellness and recognizes the impact of mental & emotional well-being on physical health.

Curious how it works? >> Meet the vagus nerve.

The vagus nerve is the epicenter of the mind-body connection. It is the longest nerve of the autonomic nervous system and connects the brain to every major organ system.

The vagus nerve is a two-way highway of communication. Information is sent both from mind to body and from body to mind. Therefore, emotional experiences can influence physical health, while physical conditions can impact mental wellbeing.

Here are some example of practices that can help nourish the mind-body system:

❋ Meditation
❋ Breathwork
❋ Massage
❋ Yoga & Exercise
❋ Hot/Cold Therapy
❋ Reflexology
❋ Energy Work
❋ Sound Healing
❋ Creating Art
❋ Journaling

✨Your Emotional Empowerment Lies in Your Ability to Cultivate Inner Calm & Safety✨

But how do we do this? 🤔

Here are some basic steps:

1. Identify common triggers and the emotional reactions they produce
2. Utilize mindfulness to notice the physical sensations that accompany these reactions so you can familiarize yourself when they appear and create a sense of separation between trigger & reaction
3. Employ strategies such as cognitive reframing, somatic embodiment, and self-soothing techniques to rewrite the story being communicated between the mind & body and recode the physical response from threat ➡️ safety

This takes consistent practice but with time, you begin to reprogram the nervous system and increase your capacity to hold uncomfortable sensations in the body, while also creating space between stimulus & response.

From this place of centeredness you remain open to creative potential, conscious communication & decision-making.

You can BE with your emotions & the accompanying physical sensations...

Versus being controlled BY them.

✨Simple Self-Care for Highly Sensitive Humans✨

I used to feel like I never had enough time for daily self-care...

But now, as the future self of this past version of me, I am calling BS.

I have more on my plate these days AND I also have daily nourishment integrated into my routine in a way that feels super easeful & enjoyable.

The truth is, it doesn't have to be overly complicated or take hours of your time.

In fact, the more simple the self-care practices are, the easier it will be to incorporate into your daily routine & stay consistent.

Here are 6 Simple Self-Care Practices (that are easy to do, yet still make a big impact when done consistently):

❋ White Light Meditation: How we start our day matters. This *free* 11min meditation/visualization will help protect your energy while anchoring you into the frequency of peace & gratitude so that your day flows with ease. Link in bio to download.

❋ Acupressure Mat: Lay on an acu mat for 5-10min and instantly feel muscular tension dissipate and your body feel more balanced & at ease. *Bonus points for habit-stacking this with another self-care practice like the White Light Meditation and/or breathwork*

❋ Stretching AM & PM: Stretching helps to keep your muscles loose, your blood circulating, and your energy flowing. It also supports good posture & balance. I like to stretch both morning & night but feel free to experiment and see what works best for you!

❋ Breathwork: Whether you desire to energize the body (ex. Breath or Fire) or to create deep nrvs. system relaxation (ex. 5-7-8 Breath), breathwork is a powerful tool for mood regulation & energy balance. Check out my reels for some breathwork tutorials.

❋ Blood Sugar Balanced Meals: As an HSP, what we eat makes a big impact on how we feel. Ensure every meal contains protein, healthy fat, and fiber to sustain optimal mood & energy levels, appetite patterns, and decrease fat storage.

❋ Self-Massage: I like to do this at the end of the day as I'm winding down for bed. Massage helps to soothe stress, promote good circulation, and release muscular tension. Try massaging your face, neck, shoulders, hands, and feet, and see what you like best!

✨The Power of Expectation✨

In one of my recent coaching sessions, my client made a comment about how everything good never lasts and they are always left with feelings of failure, disappointment, and suffering.

Without consciously realizing it, they had this inner *expectation* that they could not hold onto or sustain good things, so they would constantly be preparing to pick up the pieces before anything even happened.

Through our conversation, they were able to see just how much this belief was not serving them and that this *expectation* of failure & unavoidable suffering was actually fueling a self-fulfilling prophecy, perpetuating the patterns of instability & disappointment they had experienced in childhood.

The way I see it, everything exists in an energetic field of pure potentiality and it’s our thoughts, beliefs, behaviors, and surrounding environments that shift certain possibilities into probabilities.

And when we fixate so intently on certain possible outcomes with such expectation & certainty, they become fortified and more easily drawn to us because of the force of energy we are feeding into it through our constant attention & belief.

What we water…grows 🌱
So, let’s flip the script shall we?

Begin to notice what thoughts & beliefs you're watering.

Catch that sneaky brain when it tries to say definitive statements with words like “always” or “never”.

Things like:
_____ always happens.
You always do _____.
_____ is always going to be this way.
This is just the way ____ always is.
OR
I’ll never be good at _____.
_____ is never going to work.

We can contradict past patterns by reinforcing new neural pathways (new thought patterns) and finding evidence that supports them.

Nurture your beliefs, your thoughts, and your interpretation of what is happening in the world around you to be *supportive* of what you DESIRE vs. the things you don’t.

Harness the power of expectation and *expect* the good to start training your brain to reinforce the positive pathways so you create a magnetism for the most enjoyable experiences.

Does this resonate? I'd love to hear your thoughts below 👇
