Wellness Wednesday: Reading Supports Brain & Speech Development

Reading with your child isn’t just a bonding activity—it’s one of the most powerful ways to support brain development and speech growth.

Why reading matters for wellness:
-Activates multiple areas of the brain involved in language, memory, and attention
-Builds vocabulary and strengthens expressive and receptive language
-Encourages neural connections that support future academic success
-Improves focus, listening, and comprehension skills
-Supports emotional development through storytelling and discussion

Just 15 minutes of shared reading a day can boost your child’s language skills and lay the groundwork for confident communication

-Reduces the risk of injury during physical activities

How to support your child’s strength development:

Wellness Wednesday: Happy Feet = Happy Kids
Did you know the way your child walks, runs, or balances can tell us a lot about their development?

It’s normal for kids to move a little differently as they grow but certain patterns might be a sign they need extra support.

🚩 Red Flags to Watch For:
-Frequent tripping or falling
-Walking on tiptoes after age 2
-Clumsy movement or poor balance
-Wearing out shoes unevenly

At FYZICAL, our pediatric physical therapists make movement fun while helping your child build strength, balance, and confidence.

Movement milestones matter—and we’re here to help keep those little feet on the right path.

Wellness Wednesday: Summer Doesn’t Have to Mean Chaos!
Kids thrive on structure—even when school’s out.

While summer brings freedom and fun, keeping a loose routine in place helps kids feel safe, regulated, and less overwhelmed.

✅ Keep wake-up and bedtime within an hour of the school year
✅ Stick to regular meal and snack times
✅ Add anchors: movement in the morning, quiet time after lunch, or screen-free family time before bed
✅ Use visual schedules or simple checklists for predictability

Routine doesn’t have to be rigid—it can be playful, flexible, and still give your child the rhythm they need to feel their best.
