Pennies for Mali is a product of Christ Community Church (CCC) in Omaha, Ne. and its initiative to raise money for the betterment of the health of those in Mali, Africa. CCC has been present in Mali for many years now investing in its people. In 2006 CCC built a hospital in Mali to help reverse the trend of mortality in child-birth. In Mali, 1 in 8 children die before the age of 5 often due to the lack of access to basic medical care. In Mali, 1 in 5 children are malnourished and obtaining clean water is a challenge. Christ Community Church and Pennies for Mali seeks to raise money to change these statistics. In the book of Matthew 25:14-30 Jesus tells a parable of servants who were given various investments to multiply. In the spirit of this parable, we have decided to take $20 and attempt to multiply it for the people of Mali. We are taking every penny - literally - and attempting to multiply it with the help of family, friends, acquaintances, and all who wish to contribute. The goal then is to sell pennies for Mali - that means we are attempting to sell 2,000 pennies for a donation of a dollar (or more) each. For your donation we will send you a penny for Mali. Each penny is hand painted by our kiddos so they can take part in this initiative as well and learn the value of investing time and energy in the betterment of others and our world. Every dollar of donations received will go directly to Mali as the money to supply the initiatives for the project have been donated up front. If you do not live in the vicinity of Omaha and are willing to supply us with your address we will be happy to mail your penny to you along with some information about the initiative - don't worry no one else will receive your personal mailing information.
