“I’m part of the furry community. I just happen to be one of the really hyper-realistic ones. It’s a s*xual identity thing for some people. I understand that crowd, and respect them, but I’m actually as*xual. So for me s*x doesn’t play into it at all. In my elementary-school art class everyone would be drawing still lifes, or fruits, or whatever. I’d go online to DeviantArt and get inspired by these beautiful illustrations of multi-colored wolves and foxes. I’ve wanted a fur suit for the longest time. So when I saw this head on Twitter, I was like: ‘Wow, I have to have it.’ It’s just a form of self- expression. Not to get too religious about it; but animals are God’s creations just as much as humans. Every time I see an animal I’m like: ‘Wow, they fit so perfectly into the environment and ecosystem.’ They’re so liberated and free. Being a human is tricky; people expect you to be one thing. They want you to act a certain way. There’s norms and expectations. But with animals, they just do whatever. I've always loved the imagery of a deer running through the forest. It’s about adopting that alter ego. But I’m also a girl under here, so I’m studying for the LSATs.”

I always tell my clients it’s about baby steps. We build on those steps and strive for consistency and sustainability. No big, 180, grand gestures that’ll last no more than two weeks. It’s the little things! You can improve your relationship starting today, just pick one thing!

Excited to share about an in person SAR experience I am leading with this August in Cincinnati. Learn and reflect on the systems we navigate and how it impacts you, your clients/students, and how to sit in it (or create change). A SAR is a reflective experience though, intended to look inward. Approved for 15 AASECT CEs. Capacity is limited for a more connecting and engaging experience.

I had the best time at the AASECT conference in Las Vegas these last few days. I’m so grateful I was part of the planning committee and a small part of pulling it all off.

I networked, made friends, hugged old friends, promoted my new book, went to many workshops, and even had a little fun seeing the Puppetry of Pen is show.

Despite a full cup of education and community, I’m headed to another conference next week!
