Why do therapists celebrate the smallest wins?
In ABA therapy, something called “positive reinforcement” is used to help children learn new skills. This simply means when a child does something we want to encourage- like asking for help, trying a new word, or following a direction, they’re met with something positive, like praise, a favorite toy, or a fun activity.
Over time, this helps them understand, “When I do this, good things happen,” making them more likely to do it again.
At Lamplight, these moments are a big deal to us because they’re a big deal for your child. We know that progress isn’t just about big milestones, it’s about building confidence step by step. By celebrating those small wins, we’re helping children feel successful, motivated, and excited to keep learning.
