Passing for a second from all the heavy news around us to wish us a happy birthday. I’ll be honest—everything happening here in California and overseas has made it hard to focus on anything else. I’ve been struggling with this lingering guilt, wondering if celebrating or even just doing what I love feels selfish or unimportant right now.

It took a lot of prayer—and a conversation with my incredible husband—to help me shift my perspective. He reminded me that it’s okay to feel grateful, it’s okay to celebrate 42 and 43 years of life, and it’s okay to hold onto the joy we’ve been blessed with.

Yesterday’s message at church really stayed with me: until our Father returns, we’re called to keep going—to love, to support, and to find joy, even in the hardest moments.

I also want to take a moment to sincerely thank every single one of you who reached out, texted, or called me yesterday just to wish me a happy birthday. I needed it more than I can put into words, and it truly meant the world to me. I love every single one of you from the bottom of my heart.

So today, I’m holding space for both the sorrow of the world and the gratitude for another year of life. Here’s to loving more deeply, holding each other closer, and finding light wherever we can.
