Society tells us that birth is not normal , that we are to expect pain and complications. This is false!

Birth is wild

Birth is normal

Expect anything.

That includes a pain free birth , a comfortable birth, a peaceful birth.

It is not a GIVEN to be uncomfortable.

If there is discomfort then there are many comfort measures and tools that can be used to help make your babies transition into your arms more peaceful and calm for you and your baby.

If you want to learn more about what these tools are and how a doula can help you let’s talk!

With a doula you don’t have to remember everything you learn in your birthing classes, you/you and your partner can focus on meeting your baby !

I want you to feel confident and informed every step of the way

To have the tools that could be useful but not have to try to remember them while you are in your birthing time.

I have availability for due dates in October and beyond. It’s never too late or too early to hire a doula 🥰

Sometimes it looks just like this. There’s a myth in the U.S. that birth is an emergency and that it requires management with technical equipment. Sometimes, yes, birth does require those things for a safe outcome, however it often doesn’t. Birth is often a magnificent human experience in which love, trust, courage, and serenity can flow without inhibition. We’re here for all of it, and we believe in setting the tone for a peaceful beginning for all parents and their babies.

One of my favorite things about helping this little human form is being able to be apart of teaching her about her body, childbirth and postpartum in a beautiful light from day one.

I personally have experienced the benefits of growing up without a fear of childbirth. My mom was a huge contributor to that. I don’t ever remember my mom talking about the pain or fear of child birth. She talked about our birth stories in a positive light even if it wasn’t all flowers and rainbows! I truely think that’s why I could labor for 45 hours and come out sane lol

I’m taking a hypno doula course and one of the big things they talk about is how through out our whole lives we are fed words that are suggestive to the child birth experience.

Words like pain, HARD work, exhaustion, fear, risk..ect. YES it is work. But by telling someone that it is hard work instills that it HAS to be HARD. It doesn’t always have to be. It can be a beautiful experience and hard is associated with something negative .

Today we are making dinner and muffins for a dear friend who just had a baby. I was explaining to Aubriella why we were doing that .

Me: X### has a new baby sister so we are making her muffins so she can feel special

A: why mommy ?

Me: because she is a big sister now and that is really exciting

A: make food too? Why?

Me: because remember how ###xx had a baby in her tummy? Her baby was born and when someone’s baby is born we bring them healthy food and a treat and help them with their home .

A:why?

Me: so ###xx doesn’t have to worry about food and she can snuggle her baby and get more energy and be strong! It’s a very big thing when someone has a baby and can make you sleepy and you need to heal. It took time and her body did some really big work to meet her baby so we are going to bring her food so she can heal and be really strong!

I found it hard to not say things like she has an owie or it was hard to have her baby. Yes there is a “wound “ which needs to be recognized and is part of healing but I don’t want to instill in a 3 year old that having a baby leaves a giant wound/owie lol

Postpartum care is so important . We often forget about the mom and everyone is focused on this beautiful amazing new life but forget that the mom needs to be taken care of as well. I want to teach her that it is normal to need to heal and it is normal to be cared for and she is deserving of recovering!

She excitedly helped me pick out the groceries and make the muffins and keeps saying “###xx had a baby , now maka food! X###x Strong now!”

I love being apart of forming a healthy mindset around birth and postpartum and hope it carries forward to when she becomes a mommy.

**right picture I told her I liked her eyes lol* *

**left picture is her listening to be explain birth and postpartum** 🤰🏼🤰🏻🤰🏽🤰🏾🤰🏿

A doula is a non medical , trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.

“Being invited into one of the most intimate spaces of a woman’s life is an honor. I believe in the pure power of a woman’s body, and I strive to support her strength as she walks through her birth experience.”

TIFFANI’S APPROACH TO DOULA WORK

Tiffani’s love for childbirth started as a young girl. As she watched her mother give birth at home to her three younger sisters, she was fascinated with the strength she witnessed. As an adult, it was natural for Tiffani to assume a support role for her sister as she labored and birthed her two sons. When her sister’s second birth did not go as planned, Tiffani had the honor of supporting her during the healing process from an emergency caesarean birth. During her own labor, Tiffani had an abundance of care from her three sisters, mom, and partner. As she watched women gather, Tiffani’s desire to be a part of this empowering passage in life was awakened. She believes each step of the birthing journey is beautiful, even when the unexpected happens. She works to help the birthing person and their families feel informed, confident, and at peace in the decisions they are making during their birth experience. She strives to support and empower women to embrace and believe in the strength they have within them.

Tiffani’s goal, with her quiet and calm nature, is to hold space. Her ability to be calm and focused in a busy and otherwise hectic environment brings about peace and comfort to women and their families. Tiffani has had the honor of working with a variety of women and birthing experiences. She has been a support during high risk births, low risk, planned and unplanned cesarean births, people with previous birth trauma, home, hospital and birth centers . She has worked with birthing persons of varying ages, single moms, large families, familes with language barriers, adoption, LBGTQIA, WOC, and birthing persons without a birth partner. As your doula, she looks forward to being a part of your support team.

TIFFANI’S BACKGROUND

Tiffani began officially pursuing her path as a birth doula after supporting births of those close to her, in May of 2018. She trained at Doula Love in Portland, Oregon and attended Doula Loves 2018 Mentorship.

Tiffani, the oldest of six children, grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. She has settled with her partner, Jeremiah, in Oregon City. Her heart is for women and their partners as they walk through their birth and into a new chapter of life.

Wow! What an amazing new offering from Key Lactation: an online breastfeeding class on nursing older babies!

So many parents work so hard to get their nursing relationship off to a good start then end up accidentally weaning before they intend to because there's so much conflicting information on nursing an older baby. This class covers all the main topics of nursing a 6 months+ baby including: maintaining milk supply with an older baby, introducing solids, biting, weaning, nursing in pregnancy, and tandem feeding. You can find it at https://key-lactation.teachable.com/courses/breastfeedingbeyondbasics.
